A FISHERMAN’S LUCK I've heard a lot of fish stories-- Some long ones and some tall; But I heard one the other day That I think beats them all. It's kind of sad and tragic And yet it's funnyi too; It happened to a real nice guy-- I'll bet you can't guess who! He's really quite a fisherman And also is his friend; I think they work together When they have to pull one in. Well, they really caught a whopper-- A big mouth bass, they called it. They both got soaking wet all over Before they finally did haul it. But the thing that's sad and tragic. As I started out to say. Is what happened to these same two guys Who went fishing again one day. They went back to this special place Where they had caught their prize; This time they gave them an extra treat In case those fish should have bad eyes. They baited up with fancy lures And waited for their luck; They thought they would soak up some sunshine-- But this is where one of them went stuck. They took their shirts off gracefully And hung them on a limb. Then, they went for their undershirts And one dropped his glasses in. Kerplunk! They hit the water And vanished out of sight-- They could not possibly get them out Though they tried with all their might. Perhaps the loss will not be total-- If when he gives his income tax in He'll tell Uncle Sam about his loss. He'll probably lighten up on him. And, then, perhaps you just can't tell. There might be another dividend-- Someday he might make a lucky catch And reel one wearing glasses in. But, if someone else should make this catch. I'll tell you who to see-- If you can't locate Bob Michael, Just see his friend Dewitt Winfree! Your greens and vegetables will keep better and last longer. Never use a wet or damp cloth to take a hot dish or pan from the oven. 8 -
