BROWNING MEET YOUR SUPERVISOR Our supervisor of the month had his fir St job with Adams - Millis in the product ion department of the main office shortly after his graduation at Oak Ridge Military In stitute where he attended four years. Clarence Brown ing was born in the Bethel Church Community near Oak Ridge Upon completion of his high school studies at Stokesdale High School, he enrolled in the junior college program of ORMI. Two years in the commercial school followed his junior college studies. His employment with Adams-Millis began March 8, 1938; he is recognized this month for twenty-five years con- tinous service. Having had military training while in school and being single at the time, Clarence was ordered to active duty with the Army January 8, 1941. While serviiig combat duty with the 25th divi sion of the Army at Guadalcanal, he contracted malaria and yellow jaundice and was returned to the states for hos pitalization in April, 1943. Soon after his recovery, he was sent to the European Theater with the 89th Army division. He was released from active duty in December, 1945. Upon his return to Adams-Millis January, 1946, Clarence was placed in charge of the office in the Kernersville plant where he also handles personnel duties for the plant. Browning is still active in the Army Reserve and holds the rank of Lieutenant Colonel; he is commander of the 518th Regiment in Winston-Salem. He married the former Miss Juanita Linville of Oak Ridge on April 28, 1956. They have three children; Johnnie, Martha Lynn, and Paul, and live at Oak Ridge where they are members of the Oak Ridge Methodist Church. Basketball Team Finishes Second Plant #4's basketball team wins second place. For the third successive year plant #4's basketball team has won second place in the Kernersville Y.M. C.A. League. The team was coached by John Edd Cummings, who has for three years organized and coached the Adams-Millis teams, and as a result.of his consistent efforts the team was able to take second place. Members of the team are: Wallace Pope, Ray Pope, Jimmy Stafford, Rob ert Frazier, Bud Collins, Doug Little, Roy Tilley, Buster Seymore, Jerry Royals and Terry Marshall.
