i ■I- 1 KEEP THIS UFE UNE ( FULL GIVE ^ BLOOD! MflRie Pi'S*! Howdy! Well, now that Mother Nature is beginning to dress for Easter with all the buds poppin' out at last and Spring is officially here, a-body can't help but have Spring fever. It want be long before we all can be showin' off our new spring clothes in the Easter parade! We have Juanita Bodenhamer of the finishing department to thank for this month's recipe. It sure does sound good! Pecan Squares 1 pound of Brown sugar 2/3 cup of margarine 4 eggs 1 pinch salt 2 1/2 cups flour 1 teaspoon vanilla 1 cup pecans - chopped Cream sugar and margarine, add eggs one at a time. Gradually add the flour and salt. Mix in pecans and vanilla. Spread over 10 X 14 pan lined with wax paper. Bake at 325 degrees until golden brown, 50-60 minutes. Remove from pan, cut in squares. 'Bye now. An emergency call for blood went out over our public address systems March 12, for type AB positive blood. This type of blood is not as common as other types and was not available from the Blood Center in Charlotte. An emergency operation was pending for a lady in the High Point Memorial Hospital and the operation could not be performed until the blood was on hand. Two employees of Adams-Millis, Pauline Ellis of plant seven and Betty Shelley of plant one responded to the emergency call. Many others would have responded, but only this specific type could be used. All Adams-Millis employees are being asked to give blood at the April 2-3 visit of the Bloodmobile. With the Blood Center operating in the Carolinas, blood is made available when needed except in rare cases as above with the rarer types. Many times people have said, "I'll give if someone really is needing the blood. " People need the blood every day, but with the Blood- mobile operating in our community, the blood is made available without having to call on donors at the time. Horse sense is what keeps horses from betting on people. Telephone your social security office before you apply for your social security retirement benefits. You can help speed your first check by finding out what proofs you may need to bring with you. It's always best to inquire before you retire. - 7 -
