OVER HEARD Plant One Seems as if everybody went some where during vacation week. . . Katie Brown, of the Planning De partment, and Gladys Rogers, of the Finishing Department, spent their time in Florida visiting relatives and friends. They visited the Bok Singing Tower and "Spook Hill. " (On "Spook Hill" their car rolled up hill--they say.) They also visited Silver Springs where they saw "6 Gun Territory"and relaxed in a saloon and watched the Can-Can Girls. Willie Hester spent her vacation with friends at Crescent Beach--she gained eight pounds ! ! Jean Hunt hiked at Hanging Rock (wore a blister on her foot). Viola Wood went up to Brooks Crossroads in Yadkin County to visit her mother. That isn't really a tan she has--she helped clean out her mother's oil circulator and just wasn't able to wash off the soot. (She's glad vacation's over.) Ethel Fitts and her husband (Dave, of the Knitting Department) visited old stompin' grounds in Virginia. Helen Mason and Billie Bowden (of the Main Office) spent their vaca tion visiting their sister, Edith Dixon, in Maryland. While there, they spent one day sight seeing and shopping in Washington, D. C. Ben Hooks, general superinten dent, spent part of his vacation paint ing around the house. Don't believe he enjoyed it very much as he says next time he'll hire a professional. Pansy Davis visited her sister in Titusville, Florida, and also went over to Silver Springs. Her Florida tan is very becoming. In the Finishing Department, some headed for the beaches while others sought the coolness of the mountains. Maggie Gable went to Carolina Beach. Buddy Hulin chose Cherry Grove Beach. Mary Bowman was at Sunset Beach. Christine Hiatt vacationed at Myrtle. Margie Mills spent her week at Ocean Drive Beach. Seen at Carolina Beach were Nannie and Walter Webb,. Lena Kennedy and Valeria Bowman. Others at Myrtle Beach were Millie Robbins, Dixie Dor sett and Zana Talley. (Helen Sells was there, too.). . . Rachel and Paul Hicks spent their vacation in Daytona Beach, Florida, where they attended the races.. . . Masie Dennis spent the week visiting her mother, Mrs. Sadie Cooper, in Conway, S. C. . . .Atrice Jones visited in Statham, Georgia. . . Eddie Creasey spent his vacation in Virginia and came back with a Virginia hair cut. . .Alva Mat thews had as her guests her son and his wife from Oklahoma City, Okla. . . Youda Brady's son and his wife from Riverside, California, visited with her. . .Gladys Carrigan visited her sister in Norfolk, Virginia, where she also visited the beaches. . .Ruth Bar rier vacationed in the mountains. . . Cy Dockery and his family spent their vacation visiting in the mountains. . . Martha Rose visited her mother in Pulaski, Tennessee, and gained five pounds (there's just something about that mountain air !). . .Katie Comer and her family went on a camping trip to the mountains and had a great big time. . .Others enjoying the cool mountain air were Maude Hancock (she rode "Tweetsie" and the chair lift), Gisela Hogsed, Sidney Peele, Dorothy and Bobby Dills, and Mary Lou Dehart. . . Florida attracted Betty Johnson, Mary Davis, Myrtle Hill and Agnes Smith. . . Mildred Hemric took in the sights at Virginia Beach and returned home by way of the Great Smokies and Cherokee. . .Nona Car- 12 -
