vacationers were Mary Smith and fam ily (who also spent the weekend in the mountains) and Beulah Mabe and fam ily (who also spent some time at Cherry Park. . . Harry Mabe and wife went to Salisbury, Maryland, to visit their son and his family. . , Lee Osborne and family visited relatives in Yorktown, Virginia. . .Dewey Bodenhamer and friends spent several days fishing at Cape Hatteras (They came home with 60 pounds of flounder). . .Bill Hilton spent several days at Lake James fishing and boat riding. . .Richard Walker and family visited "Ghost Town" and Cherokee . . .Kenn and Lorene Crouse just had a wonderful vacation! ! ! Rachel and Raymond Jones and baby son, James, visited Cherokee for a week's vacation. They also rode "Tweetsie, " toured "Ghost Town" and went to Fontana Dam. On the way home, they stopped in North Wilkes- boro to visit Rachel's mother. From the Pairing Department: Pearl Beeson, Bernice Roberson, Jean Hockaday and Helen McGee, along with their families, visited Myrtle Beach during the holidays. . . Carolina Beach vacationers were Zona Winfree and Marybelle Shields. . .Peggy Watson and her family went to White Lake. . . Martha Tatum visiter her daughter at Jacksonville, Florida. . .Shellie Williard visited her daughter at Flint, Michigan. . . Lucille Bowman and Orpha Pope toured Canada and Niagara Falls with a farm group. . . Margaret Vanhoy visited Norfolk and Newport News, Virginia. . .Joe and Verda Solomon visited Cherokee where they rode the sky-lift. From the Finishing Department: Wilma Mintz and son spent their vaca tion at Myrtle Beach, as did Hadie Peg- ram. . . Carlene Fulp and Shirley Van hoy spent several days skiing, boat riding and swimming at High Rock Lake. . . .John Ed Cummings visited Chero kee and met an interesting Indian Squaw. He said he would have stayed if she would have had him, but she said, "No want'um. " . . .Mr. and Mrs. Lon nie McGee visited in Nashville, Tenn. , and attended the "Grand Ole Opry. " On the way home, they visited Kentucky coal mines. . . Clara Lambeth and her granddaughters and mother toured North Carolina visiting relatives. From the Boarding Department: Marilyn Sc Clyde Pegram went to Caro lina Beach for their vacation. They rode a motor-bike for the first time but haven't decided to trade their car for one yet. . . Surely is getting hot in the Boarding Department since vaca tion, so guess who went and had a hair cut. . . Accidents happen at home, too. Howard Young, plant superintendent, has had a streak of bad luck recently, so he was advised by his friends to stay at home during the week of the Fourth. First of all, his hot water heater at his home burned out and he had to replace it. Secondly, his daughter-in-law left his car parked in neutral and it rolled down a steep embankment, badly damaging the rear end of the car. And last, but certainly not least, a young man had a car wreck at Howard's farm and knocked down his fence around his - 14 -
