NEWS AROVND THE PLANTS Plant No. 1 Willie Hester, of the Planning De partment, has gone home after spend ing almost a month in High Point Me morial Hospital. Hope she will soon be able to return to work. Thelma Reynolds and her family had a wonderful vacation at Carolina Beach. ( Thelma is employed in the Finishing Department.) Thelma Halker, also of the Finish ing Department, is still improving after undergoing surgery some time ago. We're looking forward to having her back soon. Wonder who made the home run recently--Nell Mclnnis or her nephew, Robert Mclnnis, who plays on a Little League Team. . . Nell was so happy about it that you'd think she was the one who hit it. Virginia Thompson and her family enjoyed a week at Kure Beach recently. While there, she made her first trip to South Carolina and also visited the U.S.S. North Carolina at Wilmington. Hazel Smith wants everybody to know that she surely did enjoy the fresh corn someone put in her car by mistake. . .and she wishes it would happen again. Shirley Dotson and Betty Lloyd, along with their husbands, recently enjoyed a weekend at Myrtle Beach. Vickie Ball, daughter of Ruby Ball of the Boarding Department, was the lucky winner of a pony at College Village Shopping Center last month. Kara Talley has returned from vacationing at Myrtle Beach. Plant No. 7 Congratulations and best wishes to Jennifer Morgan and Kenneth Stamey who were married on July 12 in High Point. The newly-weds are residing on Kivett Drive. Jennifer is a pairer in Plant #7. Boarding Room Views It's hard to believe, though true, that good ole summertime is fast draw ing her last hot rays of sun. Relief from the heat in the Boarding Depart ment is always welcome, for goodness, what the humidity does for a boarder's pretty curls and freshly donned clothes is hard to believe! That is, of course, 'less you're a boarder. . .One of the things we'll miss most about summer is those good garden vegetables, espe cially Bill Sink's and Phyllis Jones' tomatoes. We heard Will Everhart talking about how good his butter peas were and he declares he's going to plant more next year. Incidentally, we've seen several of the girls getting little sacks out of Will's car--little sacks that contained everything from fertilizer to heaven knows what! Yes, we do declare it's good to have farmer friends. They're wonderful. . . . If you were one of those taking a recent tour of your plant, you would wonder, after seeing how much a stocking is handled, how it could come to the wearer wearable. It is remarkable! Moral? Do your job well!. . . Gla*d to see Barbara Laws back at her machine and Harold Kinsey back on the drier. Harold hadn't been out of work in eight years due to illness. That is a record! . . .Some day, we bet Lib Sink's grand son, "Buzz, " will say, "Remember when you were chasing me one day when I had misbehaved and we fell down and got muddy?" Glad to report Lib wasn't hurt too badly and that "Buzz" was good for the rest of the day. . .Ask Willie Young how he likes to eat "out" at the beach, and Phyllis Jones how she likes deep sea fishing. . . Reas6ns for happiness; A stork shower for Elaine Hornady and a Happy Birthday for Nell Chapman! Eloise Leonard, mender of Plant -18-
