The prayer of faith shall save him
that is sick, and the Lord shall raise
him up. --(James 5:15).
If we hold genuinely to the idea of
healing, we should and can pray effec
tively for Divine help for those who
are in need of healing.
Let's Keep It A Good Society. . . .
We Americans are still, despite
our problems, a very fortunate people.
We live well, on the whole. Better
than any other nation, as a matter of
fact. We're able to afford many con
veniences and luxuries, and to take
good care of our health and educational
needs.
This is so because we are a hard
working people, and have been blessed
with the freedom to use our energyand
imagination in making the most of our
opportunitie s.
But to listen to all the arguments
made for federal aid to cover every
conceivable situation, one might well
get the impression of an America made
up largely of the poor, sick and un
educated; the undernourished and un
employed.
Certainly, we have these problems
Most of them can best be dealt with by
community or state action, and by
individual action as well.
Encouraging the federal govern
ment to step into every difficulty could
make us all, eventually, helpless de
pendents upon federal welfarism--in
our jobs, our businesses and in our
personal lives.
It would be a strange kind of de
pendency, too. For it is we, the people
who supply the very funds--the tax
revenues--that are being used to make
us dependent!
