UNITED APPEAL CAMPAIGNS BEGIN The United Appeal Campaigns get under way in our plants during the first week of October. In Mt. Airy, the drive to raise $64, 000. 00 for Mt. Airy and the surrounding community will start October 1. Employees of plants are asked to give $10.00 as their fair share. Last year, Adams- Millis employees in Mt. Airy pledged $1, 577. 00 to the campaign. Thi s was by far the greatest amount pledged to the United Appeal by employees of that plant in prior years. In Kernersville, the campaign to meet a United Fund goal of $10, 600. 00 gets under way October 1. Participat ing in the United Fund of Forsyth County, citizens of Kernersville have access to the services of all agencies supported by the United Fund. Per haps the best known to them, however, is the Kernersville Family Y. M. C. A. As a United Fund agency, it will re ceive $18, 500.00 this year for its operation even though the Kernersville goal is only $10,600.00. Twenty-five cents per week through payroll deduc tion is the amount the United Fund is asking of each employee there. While the kick-off is October 1, Superintend ent Howard Young says the drive in the Adams-Millis plant will not get under way until October 6. High Point employees will be con tacted October 6 to pledge their sup port to their cormnunity agencies for the year 1965. Officials of the cam paign are asking all firms to conduct the drive on the same day, with reports going to headquarters immediately. The goal for the High Point United Appeal is $331, 475. 00, which will be allocated to 26 different agencies. Your company gives full endorse ment to these campaigns and asks each employee to give according to his, or her, fair share. Pledges for liberal contributions have been made by your company and your management urges each employee to do likewise. The payroll deduction plan is made available so that each employee can plan his giving for a full year. This enables the United Appeal agencies likewise to plan ahead for a full year. It's the installment plan of pledging your fair share and paying the pledge in small payments each pay day. The amount to be received by each agency in the United Appeal is deter mined by directors serving on the boards of the different agencies. These are your local residents who decide how the money is to be spent. A package of cigarettes each week or a postage stamp each day is such a little to give for such wonderful services of your community agencies. Give--your fair share.
