FIRE FIGHTING WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE? EQUIPMENT DEMONSTRATED Walter Webb, Eddie Whitworth, Willie Sikes and Larry Roach, all of Plant #1, attended the fire brigade training drill sponsored by the High Point Fire Department. They were shown the uses of different types of fire extinguishers, which extinguisher to use on each type of fire and how to fight, most effectively, each type of fire with each extinguisher. (Continued from page 4.) There is only one answer to this-- AMERICA'S GREATEST PROBLEM, WORSE THAN WAR. We have revoked millions of drivers' licenses for viola tions. We have spent billions of dol lars on safe road construction. DO WE ACTUALLY WANT TO STOP THIS SLAUGHTER? Or don't we ? It is a simple problem. Have the Federal Government pass a law prohibiting the the manufacture, sale, importation or distribution of a motor vehicle that will exceed seventy-five miles per hour. This is more miles per hour than permitted by any state. The auto mobile manufacturer is guilty today of being an accomplice before a fact, when he manufactures the greatest instru ment of death and injury to persons that America has ever known. Walter Y. Hosier National Safety Chairman T.P.A. of America Improper lifting often causes strains and sprains. Advice to work ers; Bend at the knees, get a firm footing and a firm grip on the load; keep the back straight as possible; lift by using strong leg and thigh mus cles. Ask for assistance with heavy or ungainly objects. Modern living demands vast quan tities of clean water--12 gallons every time someone takes a shower, 200 gal lons to make one dollar's worth of paper, 65, 000 gallons to manufacture an automobile, 320,000 gallons to pro duce one ton of aluminum and 750, 000 gallons to irrigate one acre of farm land. Right now America uses 350 bil lion gallons of water every day. By 1980, we will need 597 billion gallons a day, and by the year 2000, 969 bil lion gallons. Where is this water going to come from? There is not enough "new" water to meet the needs. We must use the water we have over and over again. To do this, the water must be kept clean--clean enough for munici pal water supplies, clean enough to meet the needs of industry and agri culture. Protecting our economy is only one reason why we must keep our rivers and streams clean. We must also have clean water to protect our health, to give our people good recrea tion, to protect our fish and wildlife. George Gebhardt T.P.A. Bulletin A son, Troy Dale, was born to Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Hunt on Novem ber 14, 1964. Mrs. Hunt (Evelene) is employed in the Pairing Department of Plant #7. A son, Edwin Foster, was born to Mr. and Mrs. James Lineback on September 23, 1964, James is a fixer in Plant §2.
