Proper Instructions
Essential To Quality,
Production, Safety
Proper instructions are important
on all jobs if they are to be done safely
with top quality production. Not only
is it important that these instructions
be given to all new employees, it is
also necessary at times to review the
instructions to make sure they are
fully understood and that all operators
are carrying out the instructions.
Elmer Hoover, knitting room
supervisor at Plant #1, reviews with
Betty Moore, knitter, the proper
method of starting a knitting machine
in motion. The belt is moved to the
idling pulley before the operator turns
the machine with the handle. Attempt
ing to start up the machine when the
belt slips can mean damage to the ma
chine. The operator should first
determine why the machine is not run
ning properly before starting it in
motion. The machine is first turned
by the handle to make sure everything
is in proper working condition. This
also lessens the possibility of injury
to the operator.
Boarders of the second shift in
Plant #1 surprised their foreman,
Hansell Phillips, with a stork shower.
A daughter, KarenLynnette, was born
to Mr. and Mrs, Phillips on July 12,
Although caught by complete surprise
by the shower, Hansell appears to be
calm and collected.
