I
MEET YOUR SUPERVISOR
In September
of 1946, shortly
after graduating
from Pilot High
School near Thom-
asville, Claude
Eddinger was em
ployed in the Fold
ing Department of
Plant #7. In the
twenty years to
follow, Claude has
worked in every C. Eddinger
department of the finishing division.
From the Folding Department, he was
transferred in 1948 to assistant ship
ping clerk; and in 1950, he was named
supervisor of the Pairing Department.
Served In Marines
His new assignment in the Pairing
Department was interrupted by a year
with the United States Marines at Camp
Lejeune, N, C. He returned to A'dams-
Millis in December of 1952 as a super
visor of the Boarding Department of
P]ant,#7. He was again named super
visor of the Pairing Department in
1964.
Claude attended several courses in
Industrial Management at the North
Carolina State College Extension Divi
sion at High Point College, He is a
charter member of the High Point In
dustrial Management Club and has
completed Supervisory Development
courses there.
Claude is a deacon at the Hasty
Baptist Church in Thomasville where
he also serves as church clerk. He
and Mrs. Eddinger, the former Miss
Doris Leonard of Thomasville, have
been active in the youth training pro
gram of the church.
For three years, Claude has
assisted in the Little League Baseball
Program of Thomasville. He is cur
rently coaching the Thomasville Jaycee
team. One would quickly guess that
his hobby is baseball. His three
sons (Mike, age 13; Jeff, age 11; and
Robbie, age 5), already active in
Little League, keep him busy the year
round. They fish, too, when there
isn't a ball game or practice.
Outstanding Safety Record
Eddinger's efforts in promoting
safety are evident in the record that
his department has worked more hours
than any other department of Adams-
Millis without a lost-time accident.
Since September 3, 1957, the Pairing
Department has worked 1, 156, 128
hours without time lost due to injury
on the job. Asked how he accounts for
the splendid safety record, he said,
"We constantly keep looking for any
thing that might constitute a hazard.
Our pairers have become conscious
of keeping our department in order.
We are proud of our record. "
