MRS. J. H. ADAMS SUCCUMBS TO LENGTHY ILLNESS Mrs. J. H. Adams, widow of J. H. Adams who was one of the founders of Adams-Millis Corpora tion, died on October 6, 1966, after a lengthy illness. She had been closely identified with the life of High Point for two- thirds of a century since she came here from Bennettsville, S. C. , and married the then young hosiery manu facturer who was to take a leading role in the development of Adams- Ivlillis Corporation, which he headed until his death in 1935, Following the death of her husband, Mrs. Adams was named a director of Adams-Millis Corporation, a position she held for twenty years, retiring in 1955. A woman who preferred to live quietly, Mrs. Adams, until health incapacitated her, maintained a lively interest in civic affairs of High Point, being a generous contributor to nu merous causes. The Adams lived on English Road, at the corner of English and Pine, until they built and moved to their North Main Street residence. This home was given to the Y. W. C.A. when the Adams moved into their Sedgefield residence which they built nearly forty years ago. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Nathan Ayers and Mrs. Allen Watkins, both of Sedgefield. HIRE YOURSELF ? Now is a good time to take stock of our abilities and attitudes. A little self-analysis never hurt anybody, and maybe now is an oppor tune time to take stock of yourself in sofar as your job abilities and attitudes are concerned. Let yourself play two roles. You are the boss, interviewing yourself as an applicant for a job. Would you, the boss, hire you, the applicant? Before you made that decision, you'd naturally want to know such things as: Are you genuinely interested in the job? Can you work well with other people ? Do you stick to a job? Are you conscien tious? Do you strive to learn more about your work and about the company? Are your work habits good? Do you give a full day's labor for an honest day's wage ? There are, of course, countless other factors that determine an em ployee's value to his company. But, if you can answer "yes" to the fore going few questions, almost certainly you would hire yourself for your job. And, who knows, maybe in so doing, you have hired one of the corporate leaders of tomorrow? --Reprinted from Ethyl Corp. REPORTER MRS B L KOONTS JR 1309 COOK STREET HIGH POINT N C BULK RATE U. S.
