PERCENTAGE BOARDS DEDICATED IN KNITTING
The Knitting Department of Plant
#1 had a party in September to dedi
cate their percentage board. The
board lists each set of machines in the
Knitting Department, showing weekly
the percentage of bad work, the dozens
knit per needle, the needle cost, the
amount of waste and the sliders used.
The set of machines producing the
lowest percentage of bad work is de
clared the winner for the week and
takes its place in the winner's circle.
The percentage board in the Knit
ting Department of Plant #2 in Mt. Airy
has been in operation approximately
two years. At the time it was started,
the bad work figure was 17%. The
figure has now been reduced to 7. 8%,
and as a reward for this reduction,
the knitters and fixers were given a
party. They were served coffee and
cake, the cake being patterned after
the percentage board.
