AMCO NEWS Vol. XXV No. 2 Adams-Millis Corporation March - April, 1967 MEET YOUR SUPERVISOR In 1947, a young man from Belews Creek, who had been helping his father on the farm, came to work at Plant #4. Henry Smith work ed approximately six months there and then returned to the farm. On January 26, Henry Smith 1948, Henry returned to Plant #4 and began working in the Knitting Depart ment. In 1952, he was promoted to fixing; he was a line fixer for six years. He was also head fixer on the second shift for four years, after which he was promoted to foreman of the first shift Knitting Department. Henry Smith attended Walkertown High School. On March 5, 1949, he married the former Ivlary Lou Alley, who is a second shift knitter at Plant #4. They live near Walkertown and attend Mt. Olive Methodist Church. Their only child, Henry David Smith, Jr. , is a student at East Forsyth High School. Henry is a member of the Indus trial Management Club of High Point, where he has completed several edu cational courses. He was a member of the group of foremen who completed the supervisory development training program in controlling absenteeism and labor turnover. When Henry finds spare time out of his busy schedule, most of it will be spent in fishing. TWO COMPLETE FIXER COURSE Donald Woods Donald Woods and Robert Yates, of the Knitting Department of Plant #1, have completed a course in knitting machine fixing at Guilford Technical Institute in Jamestown. Donald and Robert attended classes for 240 hours on their own time without letting it interfere with their regular eight-hour work shift in the Knitting Department. Robert Yates
