MEET YOUR SUPERVISOR
Fogler Montgomery
When Folger Montgomery is seen
in the boarding room in Mt. Airy, he
will most likely be measuring socks
to be sure they are properly sized and
boarded, A result of his consistently
checking measurements is uniformity
of standards.
Although he was born in Ararat,
Virginia, and has lived there all of
his life, his first job was in Thomas-
bille with Ragan Hosiery Mills. His
stay with Ragan was cut short by
service with the Army in 1946 and 1947,
where he was a cook and infantryman.
From the armed forces, Folger
went with Barber Hosiery in Mt. Airy
and in 1950, moved to Granite Hosiery,
He was named second-shift supervisor
in 1954, Two good things happened to
Folger in 1957--he was promoted to
first-shift supervisor and moved into
his new home.
Folger attended Blue Ridge High
School in Ararat, Virginia. On June 18,
1949, he married Miss Gertrude Mar
shall, who is employed with Brown
Wooten in Mt, Airy. They have one
son, Doyle, who is 13. They attend
Doe R\m Baptist Church.
Car racing is Folger's first hobby;
he also likes to hunt and fish. But,
his chief interest is checking the
quality in his Boarding Department.
