OVER^^ HEARD Plant #1: Employees of Plant #1 are enjoy ing the nice roomy parking lot that came as a big surprise after the July Fourth vacation. Many thanks, they say. It's so nice not to get muddy shoes on rainy days. The new air conditioning system is just great in most departments. One girl on the third floor was heard to say that she could hardly wait to get to work on the real hot days. The ADAM I CLUB got together for a cook-out on August 10--however, it turned out to be a "cook-in. " Since the weather forecaster had predicted a zero possibility of rain a day or two before and there was a cloudburst, the girls were not too disturbed about the 60% chance of rain forecast for the 10th. But, surely enough, old "60%" came along on schedule and the cook-out was chased inside--at Rochelle Ester's house. Everything worked out just fine, however. The hamburgers and hot dogs were real good--they just didn't have that charcoal flavor. Have you seen Charlie Deviney's new "Chevy"? Has power steering and is air conditioned--real nice. And, lone Calhoun has a new Buick, too. You just can't hide money, you know. Viola Bunting is visiting spots of interest in Florida this week. It's nice to have Ann Rutledge, who is work ing with us during the summer, to fill in for "Vi" while she is on vacation. Ann is a '67 graduate of Central High and will enter U. N. C. -Greensboro this fall. Wade Kindley, his wife (Pauline) and his daughter are leaving this week to drive to Sheppard Air Force Base - 14 in Texas to visit their son, Phillip. They'll leave the car for Phillip and fly back to North Carolina. Leo Griffin has been enjoying week end trips in his camper this summer. Just last weekend, he went to Lake Norman on a fishing trip--but, they all got away. Congratulations and best wishes for happiness to Marie Bodenheimer and James H. Mabe who were mar ried in York, S. C. , on June 21, 1967. Marie is a knitter at Plant #1. Several people from the Knitting Department are out sick--some still in the hospital. We hope to see Sam Younger, Estelle Teal, Bobby Boles and Mary Young back at work soon. After several months of sick leave, Louise Rabon is back at her knitting machines. It's good to have her there. Plant #2: Herman Inman and his family en joyed their vacation at Myrtle Beach, David Owens took his family for a visit to their daughter's at Norfolk, Virginia. Julius and Stacy Cundiff spent their vacation at Holden's Beach. Virginia Allen and her husband.
