RETIREMENT ANNOUNCED FOR THREE

Plant 14 is retir
ing December 31
after continuous
employment of
twenty-six years.
The year 1921
was one to be re -
membered by Mrs.
Branon. It was the year she married
Miles Ellis Branon and it was the
year she first worked for Adams-
Millis Corporation in Kernersville.
As the three children were born, Mrs.
Branon became a full-time house
keeper except for short periods of em
ployment in the hosiery mills in High
Point and Kerner sville. She returned
to Adams-Millis in 1942.
Mrs, Branon has lived in Kern-
ersville all of her life. She and Mr.
Branon live at 118 Holt Street and
attend the Friends Church. Her hus
band retired from Adams-Millis ten
years ago. He has a small radio and
television repair business which shares
his attention with his garden. Mrs.
Branon also plans to work in the gar
den and she hopes to find time to do
some needle work.
A daughter, Esther B. Holder, is
employed in the J. Ed Millis Finishing
Plant of Adams-Millis in Kernersville.
A son, William Kenneth Branon, has
worked for the knitting department of
Plant 4. Another son. Miles Ellis
Branon, Jr. , is employed with Tom
linson's of High Point.
Mrs. Branon will receive retire
ment benefits from the Adams-Millis
Corporation Profit Sharing Plan. "I
have some plans for my retirement
and with the money I will receive
from my profit sharing account, 1
will be able to get those things done, "
Mrs. Branon stated while looking to
the years ahead.
"I also appreciate the company's
making it possible for me to continue
my life insurance with the group in
surance policy of Adams-Millis, " she
added.

Joyce, pairer and

2 in Mt. Airy. She
last worked in Au
gust of this year
and her doctor now
tells her that, in
the interest of her
health, it is best
for her not to work Mrs. Joyce
any longer at public worki She was
employed by Granite Hosiery Mill in
September of 1947 and is a participant
in both the Profit Sharing and Group
Insurance Plans.
Born in Surry County, Ora Joyce
attended Long Hill School, and in 1932
was married to Arthur Joyce. There
are three children: Mrs. Josephine
Brinkley of Route 2, Pilot Mountain;
Mrs. Betty Jean Taylor of Westfield;
and Ralph Joyce of Route 2, Pinnacle.
Mrs. Joyce expects to spend a
quiet retirement; she plans to do some
canning and freezing of fruits and
vegetables in the summer and some
knitting in the winter. She attends
Simmons Grove Baptist Church.
MRS. NANCY BATES
A little over fifty years ago. Miss
Nancy Setliff started working in the
afternoon after school for the High
Point Hosiery Company on English
Street in High Point. Now, Mrs. Nancy
Bates, she is retiring December 31
from the off-grade department of Plant
14 in Kernersville.
