Lillie Mae spent Sunday, November 10, in Galax, Va. Delphia Wray and family drove to Skyline Drive for a week-end visit. Lorraine Pearson went to Port Jackson, S. C., to visit her hus band, James, before he was ordered to Texas. We are glad to have Opal Myers back with us after being out for several weeks on a leave of ab sence, and the same welcome is extended to Theresa Cox who also was out for several weeks. Leota Faulk’s father, R. V. Faulk, of Myrtle Beach, S. C., spent a recent week-end with her. Louise J. Davis’s son, Paul John son, who is on military leave from the pants department, was married October 15 to Johnsie Williams of Robbins. Our best wishes go to June Burke who was married November 7 to John Savage of this city. Velva Hazelwood spent the week-end in Danville, Va. Ethel Brown’s daughter, Myra Leigh, celebrated her second birth day Sunday, November 16. We would like to welcome our newcomers: Mary Cox, Mary Ruth Taffer, Mary Carter (who was transferred to us), Ruth Martin, Doris Bates, Theresa Cox, and Billie Sue Wright. Margaret Gardner, who will be on leave for a while, was given a shower Novem’ber 6. She wishes to thank her friends for the many nice g'ifts. SHE’S THREE—Linda Almedia Younger, aged 3, is the daughter of Ruby Younger of the shirt de partment. Maxine Hall, recently of Thom- asville, is now living on Johnson Street in High Point. Sue Edwards and family visited her brother in Stuart, Va. Joan Hedrick spent a day at the State Fair in Raleigh. We are very glad to have Gladys Dillard back with us after being out on a leave of absence. Eula Armfield visited her home in Bennettsville, S. C. Our sympathy goes to Rebecca Menscer for the loss of her brother and to Irene Boles for the loss of her husband who were killed in an automobile accident. Maggie Humphrey’s sister, Mrs. Frost of Jefferson, Ga., visited her. Mae Carroll and family toured the Great Smoky Mountains. Carolyn Cooper’s mother had a serious operation. We wish for her a speedy recovery. Myrtle Saintsing enjoyed the Ringling Brothers’ circus in Win ston-Salem. Edna Kirk’s son. Jack, is spend ing a 14-day furlough at home. He is serving with the Navy. Kathryn Johnson and family, also Ruby and “Red” Ingram had a nice time at Blowing Rock. Our sympathy goes to Ruby In gram whose father-in-law died. Rose Marie Bowers became the bride of Verlius Morgan on No vember 7 at her home. She wishes to thank the girls for the nice bridal shower they gave her pre ceding her marriage. Elizabeth and Gene Humble visited friends in Fayetteville recently. Annie Hughes attended the ice show in Raleigh. Alice Ferguson is enjoying her cuckoo clock, sent her by her hus band from Augsburg, Germany. Office Jo Albertson We would like to welcome Bill Thomas to the office staff as of fice boy, and also welcome Joyce Chapman from the pants depart ment as our new switchboard operator. Earnest McCall attended the Carolina-Virginia football game. Speaking of football, Doris Sing- ler’s husband, Don, is a member of the “Special Troops” football team of the 82nd Airborne Division, so Doris is seen quite often at Fort Bragg these days. The payroll department enjoyed a weiner roast at Ruth Lyerly’s house Halloween night. It was really complete, for even the “witch” was present. Lola Marsh and husband spent four days of vacation in the moun tains visiting Lola’s mother, Mrs. E. Parks Glass. They also took “Butehie” along with them. Joan Fulton has had as visitors GRANDDAUGHTER — Ruby Lea Zimmerman is the one-year- old granddaughter of Mary Pierce of the dungaree department.
