(Registered with U. S. Patent Office) Volume VII HIGH POINT, NORTH CAROLINA, AUGUST, 1953 No. 9 MESSAGE FROM TNE PRESIDENT (The following is the text of President R. C. Kirchofer’s talk at the presentation of awards cere monies which climaxed our annual picnic Friday.) “MEMBERS OF OUR ANVIL BRAND FAMILY: “It is good to be with you again, And I am glad that we have had his day for recreation and fellow ship. “One year ago I had the privilege of joining with you here and the events of that day and evening have remained with me as a happy and heart-warming experience. What then transpired has re-em phasized to me the importance and value of our business friendships. “The time which has elapsed since our last Annual Picnic has carried with it a number of inter esting developments. Anvil Brand, with its tradition of high quality of its products has taken many for ward steps in its marketing, pro duction and advertising plans. This has enabled the Company to pro vide even greater job security for individual workers and to further carry forward its determination that Anvil Brand shall remain a leader in its industrial field. “What has meant so much to me during the past year is the knowl edge that so many of you have contributed well and loyally to the developments which have taken jplace. A business such as ours is not a creature of one person nor any single group of individuals. It is the result of many contributions by all who are associated in a com mon undertaking; it is cooperation; it is business tolerance and a de sire to understand our fellow workers and to W'ORK with them. “That this has been accomplished is best demonstrated by our dedi cation of this day to those who have served so long and well. He makes his home in Newnan, Ga., and according to his associates heads for the golf course when he has time to do so, and shoots an excellent game. Ruby Jenkins has been on a button-hole machine longer than any other member of the shirt de partment, although she did a num ber of other jobs before she started operating a button-hole machine. At present she either puts in zippers and runs a button-hole machine. Ruby is married to David T.
