We truly hope it will not be long before Edna Patterson’s father will be well. He was operated on Sunday night. Janie Sheetz had a nice week end at Carolina Beach. She and the entire family went. Kat Hill and family went with friends' and took their lunch to High Rock Lake Sunday. Violet Miller’s brother-in-law me home on a leave Sunday ?ht. He is in the armed services. Theressa Willo-ughby has rela- es visiting her from Georgia. Shirt a t White By Ruth Barnes Peggy Whitt’s brother, Phillip Dunn, has recently joined the U. S. Air Force. He is stationed in San Antonio, Texas. Jessie Fritts and Alma Peele attended the wedding of Betty Lou Hayworth at Abbotts Creek Bap tist Church recently. Ollie Hedgeeock and husband mo-tored to Baltimore recently and while there attended a boat race. Mattie White’s daughter, Bar bara, was married to J. L.- Mc Cormick in July. We are glad to hear that Car men Jennings’ husband is back at i SISTERS — They are Virginia Kaye, 10 months, and Therisa Ann, three years, daughters of Virginia Deaton of overall and boxer. TROPHY WINNER — Jerry Andrews, 13, son of Carol Andrews of overall and boxer, has won numerou.s horse show entries with his pony “Champ, Jr.” The horse has taken two “best parade pony” trophies and one for winning a race. He also has about 10 ribbons to his credit. work after his s-tay in the hospital. Louise Farrington and Bert Ferguson attended the wedding of Bert’s nephew, Raeford Trivette, at Woodlawn Baptist Church on August 7. Our sympathy goes to Annie Hughes and Thelma Lomax in the death of their brother, Ray Jones, on August V. Mildred Rickard, along with friends, spent a recent week end in Washington, D. C. Mildred re ports she had a wonderful time. We wish to welcome Ruby Nor ris back after her absence. Mabel Sorrell wishes to thank the girls for the shower which was given her before she went on leave of absence. Rachel Odom attended a home coming in Montgomery County re cently. Mostly Oldham The second shift is now operat ing as a complete shipping unit with the addition of a packer and a marker. Loraine Eure and husband wemt to Morehead City on a fishing trip. Esther Hughes and Ossie Wright went to Carolina Beach on a long week end and had a won derful time. Louise Lester spent the week end in Bessemer City attending the funeral of her cousin, Ray mond Rickman. Lola Jones’ husband, Malden, is in the hospital with a broken hip. Janie Shelton announces the marriage of her son, Lorenzo Robinson, to Nancy Rogers. They were married on July 31 at Ches ter, S. C. Janie is our sweeper. Lela Briles wants to put a verse of scripture in this column each month—a verse to remember: “If any man will come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross, and follow me.” — Mat thew 16: 24. Mammie ■f .. ' Betty Bell and family spent last week end at Hanging Rock. Ina Holland visited her son hi Wilson Sunday. Pauline Moss is on leave now and before she left she was given a stork shower. John Kendrick and family spent last Sunday at Hanging Rock. We are glad to have Mary Earo- mjirski with us as our training su pervisor. She was transferred from ladies’ dungaree. Minnie Spencer had two aunts to visit her over the week end, Mrs. J. P. Parker and Mrs. J. W. Teal.
