POE BASKETBALL TEAM — Above are eight of the ten Anvil Brand men M’ho are on the company’s basketball team this year. Front row, left to right, are Doug Tate of office, who is doubling as coach and a member of the team; Clayton Wampler and David Moore of ship ping, and John Turner of the Mail Room, right foreground. Back row, left to right, are Max Weavil and Jack Beck of Shipping, Jerry Talley and Joel Paul of the Hudson office. Basketball Team Opens New Season Anvil Brand’s basketball sea son is underway with ten fast and talented “men of the courts” expecting to meet 12 or 13 hon orable opponents before the sea son is over. Doug Tate is ably coaching the team, as well as playing; in the first game with Alderman Photo he was in the starting line up. Also starting with Alderman were David Moore, Clayton Walker, Jack Beck, and Max Weavil. Charlie Schram also saw a lot of action in this game. Alderman came out winner in this first contest, a fact which Sew It Seams reluctantly prints. However, there certainly is no reason to think any other team will be so lucky. Come on out and watch your team; they probably could be spurred on to greater heights by Note On Sizing Of New Brief A note on the sizing of the new teen-age brief which is appear ing in Anvil Brand’s new spring line, comes from Helen Hughes of the styling and design depart ment. These briefs are sized for the teen-age figure, Helen pointed out. “Naturally a size 12 in this garment would be smaller than a 12 in a regular ladies’ number,” she said, “and consequently per sons who usually purchase a size 12, should buy at least a 14 in this “teen-age short.” Helen said she wanted to in form employees of this before they purchased this short in their regular size and than found it is too small. a loud and enthusiastic rooting section from Anvil Brand. The team is in the Industrial League and at the end of the season a trophy will go to the leading team.
