Louise Wagner and family vis ited her parents in Elkins, West Virginia during the holidays. Patricia Hughes, daughter of Annie Hughes went with the Jamestown High School Band to Miami, Florida and took part in the parade for the Orange Bowl game on Jan. 2. While in Florida they toured several interesting places and reports are they had a wonderful time. Annie Hughes would like to thank all the girls for the lovely gifts and Christmas cards. Thanks a million, girls. Alma Peele wuld like to thank the girls for the lovely dishes they surprised her with for a house warming gift. Alma has been transferred to the office as timekeeper for the Shipping Dept. Hope you’ll like your new job, Alma. Carlene Hill has also been transferred to working with sam ples. We hope you’ll like your job also, new job also. Bertha Ferguson walked off with 4th place in the Turkey Trot at the Arcade Bowling alley on Sat., Jan. 6th. Bert is believed to be the oldest bowler competing. Good work, Bertha. Louise Hale had a houseful of company for Christmas dinner. They included her mother, Mrs. Anna Umberger and brother, Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Umberger from Wytheville, Virginia and nephew Howard Unberger from Air Force Base in Texas. We’re glad to have Polly Walker back after having an at tack of tonsilitis. Corleen Stanley entertained all her husbands’ family at her home during Christmas and judging from the pictures she took sTie had a house full. We were sorry to hear that Mary Sparks was sick with ton silitis all during Christmas. Glad you’re better now, Mary. We’re glad Charles Isenhour’s daughter Virginia is better after undergoing an operation for rup tured appendix. Oh, and by the way, Charles’ Young son is about two months old now. He received a letter from the President and his wife (Dwight D. and Mamie Eisenhoui-). Mary Griffin is all smiles; her daughter Juanita is ■coming home from Germany . . Gay Lowe was in town visiting for the holidays — wish we could have seen her . . . Doris and Maude Bizzell’s mother isn’t doing too well; she re-en tered the hospital January 13. Kathaleen Mitchell and fam ily had a wonderful time in Florida at Christmas . . . B e a Craven’s son, A 1-C Stuart Cra ven, was discharged from the Army Dec. 6 and is living near Thomasville now. We hear that Ethel Lee and husband are having a wonder ful time in Riverside, Calif . . . Osa Mitchell and husband went to Florida for Christmas. Osa has a real honest-to-goodness suntan . . . Mozelle Gross and Albert spent Christmas in Ashe ville with their son, Albert, Jr., and family . . . Glad to hear that Amy Hedgecock’s mother is at home and doing fine after being in the hospital with a heart attack . . . Glad to have Maggie Swaim back with us; she looks so well now . . . Mary Ridge and family went to New Jersey and New York for Christmas . . . Elsie Wilkes spent the holiday in Swaims- boro, Ga., with her father . . . Clarissia Stamey had all five sisters, their families and her mother for Christmas dinner . . . Beulah Gunter’s son, Phillip Gunter, was home from Amaril lo, Texas . . . Ruth Kemp’s son won the Little League Baseball Trophy for the highest pitching and bat- \ing average in the National League . . . Mary Myers and Pauline Smith’s father is very ill in the hospital at Chapyel Hill . . . Ruth Roberts and fam ily spent the weekend in Green ville, Tenn. Cora Gammon’s son left for Japan Jan. 4. One thing Cora is happy about is that he left his wife and little son with her . . . Leola Newell’s brother, Dal- day by having a very delicious dinner with my sister-in-law, Carmen. Utility By Vera Meyers We have made a change since last month. We’re now working in the Utility Department where most of the girls are from the Dungaree Department. The girls would like to thank the company for the lovely bed spreads we received for Christ mas. They surely were nice. Minnie Spencer visited her sister and friends in Baltimore, Md., during the holidays . . . Bertha Chatham had company from Norwood for Christmas. Her brother and family, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Beeson and Hilda. Grace Suttorn and family spent Christmas in Florida with her son, Edwin Sutton. He lives in West Palm Beach . . . Dora Free man also visited Florida during the holidays and 'reports a nice trip. Addie Weaver has returned to work with us . . . hope she enjoys the new department . . . Grace Rumsey’s son, Johnny, was married to Melba Jean Bryant December 23 . . . Welcome to our new girl, Lillie Thompson. Hope she enjoys working with us. las Jester, of Wallace spent the holidays with her . . .Ida Kim ble’s grandson, Robert Up church, left for the Marines Jan. 16. She reports her son, Alfred, is doing nicely and is back in college after being in a wreck. Pauline Smith is so happy! She is a grandmother. Jerry and Joanne Smith have a girl, Deb orah Kaye . . . Bea Proctor says she had a good time painting her bedroom during the holi days . . . Rona Comer went on a long trip over the weekend— to Starr! Santa Claus brought Harmon Lehmon a football game. But he can’t win . . . Edith English is a very proud lady these days —she’s in a beautiful new home. If anybody would like to, you can go eat Sunday lunch any time; she would be glad to have you. Ola McMillian has a new baby boy. He sure was a big one — nine pounds and five ounces. We are so happy for her. We are glad to report that Pearl Cameron’s son and daughter, both of whom have been in the hospital, are out now and doing fine.
