T Carlene Hill Promoted Carlene Hill, who has been with Anvil Brand approximately six years, has been promoted to the Sample Department, Helen Hughes, who is in charge of this work, has announced. A new room is now under con struction at White Division for the sample work and Carlene will work there. She will be in charge of keeping swatch cards for the salesmen up to date as well as keeping made-up samples readily accessible, Helen said. In the past this work has been on a part-time basis with girls from other departments brought in when this work was particu larly rushing. Helen said the de mand for this work now requires a full-time employee for this job. Carlene formerly worked in the the shirt department. She lives at 403 Fairfield Road. Employees Donate Blood Nine Anvil Branders visited the Red Cross Bloodmobile last week and brought to 23 pints, the total donations of blood from employees since last August. (This figure is just for donations through the Bloodmobile and does not include donations for emergencies in the hospital here or in Winston-Salem.) Red Cross officials last week expressed thanks to the citizens who continue their support of the blood program. They empha sized, however, that far more blood was used for local citizens last year, than was donated from High Point. This was possible because High Point is a member of the Char lotte Regional Blood Bank and can draw on the bank as long as the supply holds out. An appeal for more citizens to visit the Bloodmobile during its next visit to help High Point re plenish the blood bank, came from the officials. Donors from Anvil Brand this time included Beatrice Brown, who joined the gallon club, Anna Harris, Lottie Kimsey, Dorothy Woodell, Ernest McCall, Velria Johnson, Beulah Gunter and Kathryn and Herb Ross. All your strength is in your union All your danger in discord; Therefore be at peace hence forward And as brothers live together. —Hanry W. Longfellow
