We want to welcome Johnny Davis and Patsy Inman; Johnny is our new mailboy and Patsy transferred to the payroll de partment from the ticket office at Sherrod. WHITE DIVISION Congratulations to Clayton and Betty Holmes. They have a new baby girl, Janet Paige. Welcome to Nancy Hyde who was transferred from shipping department to our office. We hope she will like her work and enjoy being with us. SALES Mary Fetner and her daughter. Dee, are visiting in Henderson ville this weekend. Hope they have a good time. Ellen Moore is busy as can be. Why? It could be because she is to be married April 7. Moselle Boyles, Lucilla Dagen- hart, Shirley Adams and Lib Madden gave a shower Friday, in Ellen’s honor. Prizes went to Ollie Weston and Mot Smith. El len received many nice gifts and everyone had a fine time. To Ellen and Jackie we wish much happiness and success in the future. Welcome to Gertrude Mooney, a newcomer. We extend our sympathy to our salesman, Harry Woodruff, whose mother passed away re cently. Doxie Patton has been ill for Spring finally is here and Eas ter is just around the corner; hope everyone has a nice one. Clara Hepler and friends toured the mountains during a recent weekend . . . Donna Robertson visited her sister in Winston- Salem Saturday and got in a lit tle shopping . . . Margie Stroud reports she recently was bitten on the leg by a dog. Lottie Kimsey’s husband, S. J., now has his own plumbing busi ness at 607 Wise St. . . . Sorry that Lina Bradshaw has been sick, "but glad she’s back with us and feeling better . . . Agatha McDonald’s daughter, Patsy, sloyly is improving from burns received when her dress caught fire . . . We extend our deepest sympathy to Emma Truitt whose husband, Mr. Corey Truitt, died of a heart attack February 24, and to Juanita Welborn whose father, Mr. Charlie L. Black, died March 8. Opal Adams and Ruth Myers attended the funeral of their brother-in-law in North V’ilkes- boro . . . Lela selected our Bible verse from Luke 11:33—“Heaven and earth shall pass away; but my words shall not pass away.” Eulala Taylor’s son recently had a wreck. Luckily no one was hurt but the car was a total loss . . . Jessie Hemric and Ann Har ris and families visited friends at Draper . . . Verta Hines is out sick; we hope she’ll soon be back with us. Sulah Olive’s daughter, Won- dean Fredericks, is back in the States from Germany and will be with Sulah at Easter . . . Peg gy Weaver and husband, Harvey, flew to Chattanooga, Tenn., for a recent weekend. Ida Kimball went to Parris Is land to see her son and family. Another son has been visiting her from Mars Hill College . . . Glad to have Jane Rhodes, Kate Bry ant and Beulah Beeson back with us after their absence due to sickness. Pearl Freeman went to Wash ington to see her daughter and family . . . Claressa Stamey has moved in her new home. It is simply beautiful; she says she is working herself to death fixing it up . . . Spring is just around the corner and the ladies in our department are getting in the mood, exchanging flowers . . . Donald Farlow went fishing re cently and said he caught a nice one and some small ones. Glad to have Pauline Brown and Virginia Robertson working in our department . . . Lula Bell Shackleford has moved into her new home, 521 Nathan Hunt Drive. She also visited her aunt, Mrs. Emma Smith of King. Pauline Keck is out on sick leave. Hope she’s feeling better. Eltis Morgan is in the hospital; hope she has a speedy recovery. Those who would do something about crime prevention should see to it that the treatment be gins in the high chair—not the electric chair. Judy and Howard Hendren vis ited relatives in Alexander Coun ty last Sunday . . . Emma Charles says if you have a flat tire and Addle Weaver passes her, don’t expect any help—she just looks the other way. Sadie Hedgecock has a new granddaughter, Leslie Beth.
