Page Eight SEW IT SEAMS MARCH ISSUE Shirt a t White By TEACHERS TOUR PLANTS — Five teachers from the High Point city schools were visitors in Anvil Brand’s three local plants recently. Left to right, observ ing Kathleen Causey at her machine in the Overall Department are Aline Carter, G. C. Frye, Donna Burns, Ossie Wright, Mrs. Luna Ray, Mrs. Hazel Smith, and Mrs. Lola Hodgin. Old age is that period when men pay more attentidn to their food than they do a pretty wait ress. A wise man, finding himself in hot water, decides he needs a bath anyway. Swallowing one’s pride occa sionally has never been known to cause indigestion. A preacher asked a man if h’-^ wife had any aim in life. “I’ll say she has,” was the reply. “Look where she hit me—right in the middle of the forehead— with a teacup.” Anvil Brand in cooperation with the local Chamber of Com merce, was host to five local school teachers last month when they made an afternoon tour of the local plants. Associated Industries also was a co-sponsor of this project which was known as Business-Industry- Education Day. The five teachers were shown through the plant by Aline Car ter and Ossie Wright and ob served various operations. Myrtle j Jennings Getha Cox of Shirt and Mabl; Sorrell of Pants Department were honored with a birthday dinner recently by Mrs. Pierce, Carlene Hill, Olie Beck and Dora Byerly. Bill Thomas also was a guest. Lorine Bundy surely does be lieve in traffic signs now. She says if you don’t believe a cop will stop you for doing 55 miles pel hour in a 35-mile zone, you’re just being fooled. She paid a fine to prove it . . . Mary Sparks is a happy somebody now; her daughter, Janice, her son-in-law and grandson are visiting her form California. Glad to have Emma Staley and Glenda Bowman back after their absence due to sickness . . . Lou ise Wagner surprised her hus band with a birthday supper and her little son celebrated his first birthday Jan. 30. Glenda Bowman says thanks to the collar-setters for the flow ers she received while she was sick. Was sorry to hear about Glenda’s husband being in a wreck; hope he soon will be off those crutches. Mann’s Drug Store’s bowling team of which Mildred Rickard of Pants and Bertha Ferguson of Shirt, are members, are still hold ing top place in the city’s bowl ing league. BRIDE—Fonda Dennis, above, and David Angel were married January 28. Fonda is the daugh- lerof Wilma Dennis of Dungaree. The couple is living in an apart- menl on North Main Street. BRIDE — Miss Jackie Jones, daughter of Evelyn Jones of the Overall Department, was married February 22 to David A. Mont gomery. The double ring cere mony was in Oak View Meth odist Church. Cultivate only those habits that you are willing should master you. Jack Rives talked to the teach ers after the tour and said they were an unusually interested group of visitors. BROTHER AND SISTER — Bobby and Billy Clinard are chil dren of Emma Clinard of Ladies' Dept. Bobby is 14 and Billy, 10.
