JULY ISSUE SEW IT SEAMS Page Nine BRIDAL COUPLE — Don Morgan and Bessie Severt cut their wedding cake following their wedding June 30 at the home of Bessie’s sister. The ceremony was at 4 p. m. and after a wedding trip to the mountains, the couple now are at home at 807 Morris Street. Four Join Young Industrial Club Four young men from Anvil Brand have joined the Young Men’s Industrial Club, a local group which includes men in training for supervisory positions. The club meets every other Thursday night and hears speak ers and has workshop sessions on various phases of industrial su pervision. Since the Anvil Brand mem bers have been attending, the club has been studying human relations. Anvil Brand members include Bill Thomas of Printing, Frank Starrett of Cutting, Bill Roach of Maintenance and Jerry Talley of Payroll. “Many a juvenile delinquent got off the right track because of a misplaced switch.” Nevyle Shackelford. “When a man’s being toasted at a banquet, you can bet he’s being buttered up, too!” Newell Couple Married 25 Years Leola Jester Newell, training supervisor at Sherrod, and her husband, Solomon Melvin Newell, Jr., will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary August 1. Leola has been with Sherrod since 1928. Her husband' is with Globe Parlor and their daughter is employed in Alderman Studios. Leola says they haven’t made any special plans to celebrate, but may “arrange something” for the event. “Two kinds of families are likely to have a house full of antique furniture; the kind with money, and the kind with kids.” —Marshall (Ky.) So very nice to be with you again. I have really missed this little meeting every month. We miss Frank McCulloch since he left us but welcome Charles Isenhour and of course, “Curly” can’t be beat. We couldn’t make it without him. Edith English is in the hospital . . . Freida Pope has a new granddaughter . . . Elsie Wilkes has a new grandson, as do Famie Kinsey and Ethel Parrish. Con gratulations to the happy gran nies! By the way, Famie Kinsey says don’t let Rona Comer kid you about not liking the opposite sex. Famie says Rona was seen in Stewart, Va., with, not one, but two. Atta girl, Rona! Treva Mock and Grace Bundy attended a wheat threshing. Now there’s the place to get a good feed . . . Etta Skeen went to the horse show in Kernersville and blistered her back, but enjoyed the show. Etta’s daughter from Flint, Mich., visited her recently. Suppose everybody enjoyed their vacation. I stayed' home but enjoyed being with the baby so much I didn’t miss the trip we usually take. Lots of folks enjoyed the beaches, among them Freida Pope who visited Virginia Beach, Ocean View and Rich mond, Va. Beatrice Proctor also went to Virginia Beach and to Norfolk and Roanoke. Beatrice’s daughter was home before leav ing for Alaska . . . Evelyn Miller and her family went to Virginia Beach, too, and also had a guest during the week from West Palm Beach, Florida . . . Kathleen Mitchell and family went to Myrtle Beach . . . Leola Newell and family spent the week at Myrtle Beach, too. (Nice tan, Leola). Lizzie Everhart went a “fur piece” for her vacation — New York, Baltimore and Washington. She reports a grand trip. Mary Snyder says she didn’t do much for vacation but relax and enjoy herself . . . Wanda Craven visited in Mocksville . . . Mary Ridge toured the Luray Caverns in Virginia . . . Hattie Bizzell went to see her sister in Reidsville . . . Kate Bryant spent the week in Winston-Salem . . . Claressie Stamey visited her mother and attended a reunion — another good place to eat up something . . . Beulah Davis went to Ohio and had a grand trip. Maude and Doris Bizzell have a new niece. They’re tickled pink . . . Janie Rhodes had her brother with her from Bel Air, Md. She also went to Baltimore while she was vacationing . . . Jennie Owens went on a camp ing trip to Doughton Park. She also said a lot of “kin folk” came a-'calling and she never did see so many dishes to wash . . . Mary Griffin’s daughter from Calif., was home as was Pearl Free man’s daughter from Maryland . . . Velna Johnson’s son and fam ily were home from New Jersey. Welcome back to a good old gal, Bonnie McKinney and until next time. Vacation week found J. L. Richardson in South Carolina, Minerva Anders in Winston- Salem with her son and daughter and Arlene Felts and family in Washington, D. C. Other vacationists included Pauline Poe whose family toured the Smoky Mountains; Etta Rose Jones who spent a day at Hungry Mother Park in Marion, Va.; Musetta Halsey visited relatives in Indiana; Mary Lou Bonham went to Hungry Mother Park and Edna Ball visited her daugh ter in Norfolk. Sorry to report iHattie Carpen ter is ill. Hope she soon will be better.
