NOVEMBER ISSUE SEW IT SEAMS Page Nine Finishing^ at White By Katie Hawks Thanksgiving is drawing near and lots of us are planning a trip home or elsewhere, but we may hear little talk of the real mean ing of Thanksgiving. Actually, we have a lot to be thankful for, so let’s all stop and think, on Thanksgiving Day, what the word Thanksgiving leally means. Pernnie Harvill is wearing a smile these days. Could it be be cause they are building a new home? Lynda Gardner had visitors from Virginia recently. . . Yours truly and husband spent last Sun day at Pilot Mountain. . . Elsie Motsinger and family spent last weekend in Gastonia visiting rel atives . . .Pauline Mendenhall had visitors from Washington, D. C. . . Glad to have Louise Easter helping us out these days. . . Wel come to our new girls, Martha Fields, Betty Miller and Frances Davis. Hope they enjoy working with us. Giad to have Ina Mae Hamblin back after her leave of absence. She now is the proud mother of a boy. Bertha Lee Prince spent a weekend with friends in Gas tonia. . . . Glad to have Palice Robinson back after her absence . . . Blanche Cheek had her nep hew visiting her from Brooklyn, N. Y. , , Fishing season is over for Mary Alston and Ruth Tor rence. They now are getting their dogs ready for the rabbit season. Glad to welcome our newcom ers for this month and glad to have Margaret Torrence back with us. . . Ruth Torrence’s nep hew is home on furlough. . . Mae Flowers has moved to Pennsyl vania to make her home. BRIDE — Miss Shirley Rook, daughter of Myrtle Rook of the Overall Department, was mar ried to Max Calloway of Colfax October 20. The ceremony was spoken in the parsonage of North Main Baptist Church. The couple are making their homes at 303 Steele Street. Ladies Dept. No. 1 By Margaret Hill Well, it sure looks like Winter is headed our way. Mrs. Theresa Willoughby enjoyed guests last weekend from Georgia, including her sister-in- law and family. . . Dovie Dam- eron reported having a wonder ful time in South Carolina last month. She saw several friends and relatives at a dinner there. . . Dorothy West has been sick but is back at work. She recently visited her father and mother in Raleigh. Mary Earomirski enjoyed a re cent trip to the mountains. . . . Sorry to hear Viola Draper’s step mother is ill. Myrtle Kennedy had a nice dinner in Greensboro with her sister. SCHOOL DAYS - Kenneth and Janice Poe are children of Pauline Poe of Independence. Myrtle Kennedy’s son Charles, is stationed at Fort Jackson, S. C. and she hopes he will be home for a visit before long. BABY DOLL — Edward Lee Overby is the son of James Over by of Sherrod and Bessie Mae Overby. He was three weeks old when this picture was taken. Happiness is possible only when one is busy. The body must toil, the mind must be occupied, and the heart must be satisfied. Those who do good as opportun ity offers are sowing seed all the time, and they need not doubt the harvest. This country needs more people raising beans—and fewer spilling ’em. BRIDE — Mrs. Jimmie R. New ton, above, was Ronda Osborne before her marriage October 1. Rhonda works in Utility and her mother, Winnie Osborne, is in Overall. Her husband is in serv ice, stationed at Fort Jackson, South Carolina.
