are affiliated.
SSPA was founded four years
ago at North Carolina College
for the purpose of improving
scholastic pubUcations. It offers
continuing services to high
school newspapers and year
books and to teachers and stu
dents interested in journalism.
The leading activity is its an
nual spring conference-work-
shop which will be held at NCC
in April, 1961.
SSPA offers a critical service
for high school publications,
giving its members a by-the
issue evaluation of each news
paper and yearbook. It also
sponsors an annual competition
for publications with awards for
excellence contributed by na
tional and local newspapers and
publishing concerns.
The organization also publish
es “Presstime,” a magazine con
taining helpful information for
high school newspaper and year
book advisers and staff mem
bers.
