Bulls took a 49-33 halftime ad
vantage, then staved off a North
Carolina College rally in the
second half to win going away
in a 91-72 triumph over the
Eagles here December 8.
Out-rebounded, 50-46 by the
Eagles, the Bulls relied on
shooting superiority. Jackie
Jackson led their attack with 26
points, while Charles Turner
had 20, Tyron Britt, 17, and
Jackie Wilson, 14. Turner gar
nered 15 rebounds and Wilson,
12.
Ted Manning sparked the
Eagles with 22 points and 11 re
bounds. Gus Jones had 16
points, Curtis Watkins 14 and
McClain 11. McClain collected
15 rebounds.
NCC, now 2-1 in the CIAA
and 2-2 for the season, led at
7-6 was even at 9 all and stayed
close at 23-22 with 9:13 remain
ing in the first half. By inter
mission, . however the Bulls had
taken a 16 point lead. The
Eagles, who take on Shaw Uni

The NCC Eagles fell behind
a powerful Mt. St. Mary’s Col
lege team to lose 100-80 at
Emmitburg, Maryland on
Wednesday, December 2.
The mountaineers had six
men in double figures. They
overcome an early 8-4 deficit to
lead by ten points at half time
47-37. The score had remained
cclose (27-25, St. Mary) with
about 2:13 left in the first half
before the hot mountaineers put
gas in the fire to score 20 points
in the last two minutes.
The Eagles (1-1) who never

89-82 hardfought win over Mor
gan State College in Baltimore.
The game was the first in CIAA
basketball competition, and the
first victory for the Eagles.

whiz, swished in 23 points to
pace NCC’s offense. Ted Mann

Eagles Whip Trojans
The North Carolina College
Eagles gave the Virginia State
Trojans their second defeat in
as many outings'December 5,
1964 as they racked an 84-
73 score in NCC’s McDougald
Gymnasium.
Friday the Trojans were
turned back by Shaw University,
97-85, in Raleigh.
Ted Manning, a junior gradu
ate of Baltimore’s Carver High
School, with a total of 26 was
the pacemaking scorer for the
Durhamites, but a Trojan sharp
shooter, Eugene Nelson, led all
players with 28.
Virginia scored first in the
opening seconds of the game,
anH after momentary ties at 2-2
and 4-4 took the lead 6-4 on a
Nelson field goal with 14:20 to
go in the first half. The Paul
Godwin-coached Trojans re
mained out front until 7:20 be
fore the intermission when
Manning evened up points at 19-
19. A Daniel McClain shot from
the floor put the Eagles ahead
21-19, and for the remainder of
the encounter, NCC held the
upper hand.
At the break the Eagles, who
then stood 2-0 CIAA and 2-1
overall, led 36-28.
