Honors Program To Organize College Bowl For Fall ’80 From The University Honors Center Newsletter The College Bowl is a nationwide competition be tween teams from different colleges and universities from across the country. It is a game between two teams who respond quickly and accurately to questions that range from topics of current events to mathema tics. The teams are com posed of four players and an optional alternate player who can be substituted for another player during the game. Currently, the University Honors Program and the El der Student Union are trying to form a College Bowl competition at NCCU in the fall. Different teams composed of NCCU students will compete against each other. From this competition, a single team will be formed to re present NCCU at the state, regional, and national competitions. The grand prize for the winning team of the nation al championships is $25,000 in scholarship money and a trip to England to compete against the winning British team. However, to justify the expenditures of time and money on this project, we need to know that there is enough interest among NCCU students. Therefore, if you and your organiza tion or if you and several other people are interested in the College Bowl com petition and would like to form a team, contact Ran dy G. Vestal or Dr. Ernest Mason at the Honors Cen ter or call the Honors Cen ter at 683-6421. If you would like to listen to an example of a College Bowl game, you can listen to WDNC on Saturdays at noon. WDNC is currently presenting the national championship play-offs re corded earlier this year. Again, if you are interested in forming a College Bowl team at Central, contact us as soon as possible so that we may make the necessary arrangements. ‘YEAR OF THE CAMPUS ECHO” appreciation dinner, given by advisers.
