Page 2 Duke Hospital, InterCom n® THERE’S A TIME AND PLACE FOR EVERYTHING/ Supt^^ Cotnex It is a hai)py occasion for me to be able to make my belated debut in the Superintendent’s Corner of Inter com, since it also means that I am home again with a chance to see all the friends I have missed so much in the past two years. T also look for ward to getting to know all of the folks who have joined us while I was away. Those of you w'ho might not have been out of our country would be agreeably surprised to find how' rapid ly our medical school and Hospital have attained international stature. There seems to be no nook or cranny on the globe where they are not well know'n and respected. It seems to me that this type of prestige is not only an outstanding tribute to the accomplishments of our facultj- and staff, but an invaluable asset in the continued development of our Univei'sity. The type of co operation existing between our gov ernment, our Medical School and that of the National Taiwan University makes possible the kind of imi)ortant contribution to health and health edu cation recently made by Drs. Davison and Forbus and .Mrs. Hufkin in Free China. Such efforts will pay mutual dividends far into the future. As glad as I am to be home and as much as I have missed Duke, it has been an extremely stimulating ex- ])erience for me to have had the op portunity of working with health ])roblems in free China. It was most gratifying to find that people in hospitals and other healtli institutions there were just as dedi cated to working hard under adverse circumstances toward improving liealth services as I have always found them at home. It is good to be able to add many such fine friends to the roster of those to whom I return. Calendar March 3, 4, o—Visiting Professor, Dr. Kulon Kasson, .Memorial tJentcr, N. Y., Lectures.
