Duke Hospital, InterCom Page 5 From The Auxiliary Birthday Party There’s going to be a birthday— and a birtliday party! The Women’s Auxiliary of Duke Hospital was or ganized in April of 1950, so this month of April in 1955 marks its fifth birthday. The Auxiliary will ob serve the completion of five years’ work with its annual meeting. This is s(;lieduled for Tuesday, April 19, at 7 :30 P.M. in the Men’s Gi'aduate Center. The Auxiliary announces with pride that the speaker for this occasion will be J)r. James T. Cleland. We take this opportunity to congratulate both Ur. Cleland and Duke University on his recent appointment as Dean of the Chapel, and we are honored to have him help us celebrate our fifth anniversary. To all our friends we want to say this is to be an open meeting; biisi- ness will be kept to an absolute mini mum; we promise you an excellent speaker; so come one, come all. Member Honored One of our most loyal Auxiliary members, Rosa V. Wilson (Mrs. P. P.) has just been named “Woman of the Year” for a four-state district of La Sertoma Clubs. Mrs. W^ilson, who gave 200 volun teer hours on Guide Service last year, received the honor at a district meet ing in Columbia, S. C. in March, for her outstanding work and leadership in club projects and the Duke Auxil iary. She was also chosen the “Wom an of the Year”, for the local club. The district is coni])osed of North and South Carolina, Virginia and the Dis trict of Columbia. A guide each Thursday from 9 to 3, Mrs. Wilson started her work with the Auxiliary three years ago, be coming interested after talking with Mrs. Honeycutt and hearing Mrs. Eagle discuss the Auxiliary at a La Sertoma Club meeting. She says her son. Dr. William P. Wilson, a Duke VOLUNTEER WORKERS are enthusiastic in their welcome to Mrs. Katherine Glenn Harper, who already has endeared herself to the Woman’s Auxiliary in her new duties as secretary. Katherine Harper Joins Auxiliary Staff In March Mrs. Katherine Glenn Harper took up her duties as Secre tary to the Women’s Auxiliary of Duke Hospital. Mrs. Harper is a na tive of South Carolina, but has lived in Durham for the past nine years. Her husband is a lighting engineer and is associated with the Duke Power Company. Mr. and Mrs. Harper have two children: a daughter, Jac(iueline Ann, 21; and a son, George Glenn, who is 18. Members of the Auxiliary are en thusiastic about Mrs. Harper’s quali- graduate now with the McGill Neuro logical Institute in Montreal, also had a hand in her decision to help with the Auxiliary. Dr. Wilson will return this Sunnner to join the Veterans Hos])ital i)syehiatric staff. Our congratulations to Mrs. W'ilson for her new honor and for her de voted service to the Auxiliary!
