All the folks are back front very delightful vacations, and the work is going well. We have noted with a great deal of appreciation, that even though the Pink Ladies took a well deserved rest for a few w'eeks this summer, our Registering Service was carried on just the same—many thanks for their helpful work. We were pleased the other day to hear that Thomas Pretty, w'ho was one of our orderlies when the Hos pital opened, has been awarded the Hibernian Award from the Brent wood Hospital in California for meri torious service. The following ex cerpts were taken from his citation: “During Mr. Pretty’s tour of duty on this service for the past year he has performed in an outstanding manner in the many phases of his as signment. In working with the Geriatric patients he has displayed initiative in adding ‘life to their years, not just years to their lives.’ ‘ ‘ In w'orking with others, Mr. Pret ty attemj)ts to arouse interest, to pre vent and minimize discouragement and lay the foundation for satisfac tion and success in giving continuous ly better team nursing care. He is always factful and cooperative. Re latives of patients have commented upon his gracious and tactful man ner. Each visiting day at least one relative will comment that they feel assured knowing some one of Mr. Pretty’s caliber is caring for their relative.”—Mrs. lieha Hohrjood.
