Dr. Angus Buchanan, research as sociate in Physiology, is over from St. ]\Iary’s Hospital i\Iedical College, London, to assist in teaching the physiology course during the coming quarter. —Sue Gaines Personnel ]\Ir. Bindewald’s newest addition, .lane Sheridan (Sherry), came into the world on Oct. 2(i. The Hindewalds also have two sons, Kichard, six, and Dave, four. ]\Iarie Herndon is taking the very last few daj^s of her vacation for a sightseeing jaunt to Washington, D. C. —Peyton Clements Surgery Dr. Ralph McCauley of the Urology House staff left us the first of the year. He is now in the Air Force, stationed at Dayton, Ohio. Pediatrics Dr. Charles B. Neal and Patty Hough were married on Dec. 31. Miss Mildred Sherwood has rejoined the staff as pediatric supervisor—so nice to have her back. Social Service ]\Irs, Lennie-Marie iluse joined the staff of the department on Jan. 3. Mrs. Muse received her master’s de gree in psychiatric social work from the University of Chicago School of Social Service Administration. Prior to coming to Duke, she worked for almost two years as a psychiatric social worker in the Central New Jersey Mental Hygiene Clinic. ]\Irs. Muse is assigned to work in Kirby Clinic. Isabel Pelton recently attended a three day conference at the Atlanta University School of Social Work. This meeting was in the form of a work shop for supervisors of stiidents from this school. Miss Pelton is super vising Mrs. Vera Coleman who has been doing her field work in this de partment since September. Medicine Mrs. Anna Eby, secretary to Dr. Hickman and Dr. Warren, is leaving us in Febnuiry. She has been re placed by Miss Virginia ]\Iulvey, re cently from Birmingham, Alabama. Miss Nan Alyea, secretary to Dr. Nicholson, is also leaving in February. Jane Spencer will be Dr. Nicholson’s new secretary. The Department of ]\Iedicine will miss both of these girls, and we really regret their leaving. Dr. and Mrs. Spencer Brewer a new baby boy, born in late December. Dr. Carl Jaeger, former assistant resident here, who was badly hurt in an automobile accident in Coiniecticut before ('hristmas, is recovering. Dr. Bob Willett, practicing in Ra leigh and Instructor in Medicine at Duke, was married in January to Dr. Hilda Po])e, who is in Bacteriology at Duke. Dr. Porter Crawford, former resi dent in Dermatology, has moved liis j)ractice from Burlington to Spartan burg. Porter’s wife, the former Hilda .McXeill, was laboratory nurse for the Dei)artment of Jledicine a few years ago Their many frieiuls wish them well. Miss Dorothy Longstreth, medical student, and Dr. Alexander Woods have announced their engagement. Dr. Woods is chief medical resident at the VA Hos]utal. PDC Laboratory Miss Ann Green, secretary of the Private ^Medical Laboratory, is en gaged to marry ]\Ir. Fredrick Ronald Yergan on February 25 at Braggtown Bai>tist Chiu-ch. PDC Surgical Division ]\liss Kathy LeStrougeon is now Secretary to Dr. Sealy. Miss LeStrou geon is a graduate of Duke ’55 and lives in Westover Park Apts. Miss Sarah Kirkpatrick spent a week’s vacation at her home in Green ville. Mrs. Carrie Weise and husband “Ed” spent Christmas with her parents in St. Petersburg, Fla. .Mrs. Shirley I\Iitcheirs parents of Los Angeles, s])eut the week of Dec. 17 in Durham. Mr. and Mrs, Harold Snudlwood made their trip by plane and Shirley and Jack, who is a medi cal student, met them in Washington, and motored to Durham. Their re turn trip to California was by plane. Miss Nelle O’Briant spent Christ mas with her sister and family in Falls Church, Va. Mrs. Frances Lawrence and her sister motored to Florida for the Christmas holidays. Miss Kitty Brunson, received a dia mond from Pete Bennett. Pete is a senior at Duke and delivers the out- of-town papers to the hos])ital. ]\Irs. Floride Bock, spent Christmas in South Carolina with her mother. Her mother returned with her to stay for awhile. ]\Irs. Lib Pendergraft has just re turned to work after undergoing sur- gery. Mrs. Agnes Goswick had both of her sons home for Christmas. Claude, Jr. graduated from Duke Medical School and is now in ('inciniuiti. Alex is in the service. iliss Betsy Farmer spent the Christmas holidays at her home in Wilson. Mrs. Mary C'rowgey spent Christ mas in (’Charlottesville, Va. I\Iiss Lucy Harms spent her vaca tion in New Jersey and the ("hrist mas holidays in Florida. -Miss Joyce Lockhart spent Christ mas holidays in Roanoke, Va. •—Nelle O’Briant Laundry The Christmas party held at the laundry brought much joy to every one, a beautiful prayer was given by ilary Campbell, gifts were exchanged, and a round of refreshments served. Those enjoying recent vacations are Mae Daniel, Sue Williams, and Lillie Edens. We welcome Ernest Davis, a new employee in our department. Our sympathy to those having had recent visits from Old Man Flu. —I'helma Stafford Business Office Miss Margaret Ilandett was married to Clifford B. Knight Jr. in the Loug- hurst Methodist Church on Jan. 1. They are now living at 2401 W. Clul> Blvd. here in Durham. Clifford is a gradviate of the University of Con* necticut and is now in graduate school at Duke University. Margaret is a graduate of Roxboro High School and has been employed in the Busi ness Office for the past three years. —Drucilla Horton
