Duke Hospital, InterGom Page 5 Charles Frenzel Succeeds J. Minetree Pyne A familiar face has been missing; from Duke Hospital since April first. Mr. Minetree Pyne became Superin tendent of Alamance County IIosj)ital in Burliufrton, N. C., on that date. Assistant Superintendent at Duke Hospital for the past seven years, Mr. Pyne had spent two years before that from 1946-1948 at Duke studying hospital administration. Mr. Pyne moved to Durham in 1988 from Lynchburg, Virginia, and was graduated from Durham High School and the University of North Carolina. He served a tour of duty with the Army during World War II. Before joining the administrative staff at Duke in January 1949, he served six months as assistant hospital admin istration consultant with the North (Carolina Medical Care Commission. He is married to the former Jessie Ormond of Durliam. The Pynes have four children. At the same time that congratulations and good wishes fol low the Pynes to. Burlington, the Duke family feels a real sense of loss at their departure. Joining the Administrative staff to take up Mr. Pyne’s duties, is Charles H. Frenzel, Jr., former director of the North Caroliiui Study Commission on Financing Hospital Care. Im mediately before coming to Duke on April first, Mr. Frenzel held the post of assistant director at City Memorial Hospital, Winston-Salem. Like Mr. Pyne, Mr. Frenzel is a graduate of the Duke Hospital course in hospital ad ministration. A native of Jamaica, Long Island, New York, he received the A.B. de gree and comj)leted a year of graduate work at Duke before entering the ad- mini.strative training ])i'ogram in 1949. Mr. Frenzel served four and a half years in the Army from 1941- 194(i. In addition to the j)ost with the Nortli Caroliiui Study Commission, ]\Ir. Frenzel was director of a similar study sj)onsored by the Soutli Caro lina Hos])ital Association and Medical Association. He also held the ])ost of administrator of the Bedford County Hosjntal, Bedford, Virginia for two years befoi'c going on to Winston-Salem. Ml'. Frenzel is married to the foi-- mer Virginia Joan LeGlise. They have a son, James Charles, age 10. Mrs. Frenzel and James will follow Ml'. Frenzel to Dut'ham later.
