Miss Pat Marrow of Greensboro College was a recent weekend guest of Miss Evelyn Chesson. Miss Shirley Sorrell, a student at Elon College, worked as secretary to Dr. Cohen and Dr. Parsons during the holiday season. Mrs. “Jo” Mancini of Kirby Clinic was recently elected chairman of the Graduate Nurses Organization. John and Ollie Danford are being congratulated on the birth of a daugh ter, Sandra, Dec. 22. Ollie is a secre tary at Kirby Clinic. Mrs. ]\Iary Kistler, Mrs. Betty Deiss, and Mrs. Wayne Rundles from the iledical Auxiliary are helping at Kir by Clinic three mornings each week. Dr. Charles E3. Llewellyn took part in a reaction panel of the Chapel Ilill Nursing Supervisors on January 29. There was a discussion of a paper by iliss Lola Hansen regarding Chronic Cardiovascular Disease. Dr. William R. Galeota (New York IMedical College) and Dr. Marian L. Rhame, Jr. (Medical College of South Carolina) started their residencies in our Department the first of the year. Kathy and Ted Huggins recently vacationed in Florida. While there they attended the Orange Bowl game. —Ann M. Hood PDC I\Iiss Lucy Harms spent Christmas in New Jersey visiting her sister and family. Mrs. and Mrs. Edward Horn and family spent Christmas in Con necticut visiting her two sisters. Miss Jo Whitley spent Christmas in Wilmington, Delaware. Mrs. Helen Blackley spent New Year’s in Virginia. Mrs. Durema Wetmore flew to Lon don and Paris for a fifteen day tour in December. Pat Drinard spent New Year’s in Richmond, Virginia. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Holben announce the birth of a baby girl, Kim Lanette on Nov. 24. Mrs. Frances Lawrence underwent surgery Jan. 6. Mrs. Elizabeth Pendergraft is a l>atient in the hospital. Mrs. “Kitty” Cole, wife of James (J. Cole has joined S.P.D.C Business Office. Kitty and Pete Bennett, newly weds, are new living at 2916 Universi ty Drive. Mi.ss Joyce Lockliart, secretary to Dr. Shingleton, was married to Donn Michael Farris on Nov. 20. Miss Pat Brinkley received a dia mond for Christmas. She is to be mar ried to Bernard C. Harris of Universi ty of N. (1 School of Dentistry on Sat urday, March 23 at 4:30 p.m. at Bethany Methodist Church. The Hawley twins, Margaret and Barbara, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Winifred Hawley were presented at the Durham Second Annual Christ mas Cotillion and Debutante Ball. (Mrs. Hawley is known as Martha and Surgical P.D.C’s Bookkeeper.) S.P.D.C. Nurses Mrs. Floride Bock spent Christmas Holidays in South Carolina visiting her mother. ilrs. Gracye Carver is away for a few days’ vacation. Mrs. Agnes Goswick’s son, Claude Goswick, Jr. of Duke Medical School left Jan. 18 for Montgomery, Ala. for orientation in the Air Force and will reside in Bermuda for two years. S.P.D.C. Technicans Miss Barbara Green of Waverly, New York joins S. P. D. C. as techni cian in Laboratory. Mr. and Mrs. G. Howard Satterfield annoiince the birth of a baby girl, Carrie Joyce, on Dec. 15. Plastic Surgery Dr. Hugh H. Crawford, former chief resident, is enjoying a month’s trip abroad, won for his excellent paper submitted at the annual meet ing of the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. To him go our congratulations. Dr. William M. Douglas, w'ho has completed his Residency on the Plastic Surgery Service here, has moved on to Florida to open his own practice. Dr. Joseph !McWhirt is doing a fine job as the present Chief Resident. About 25 members of the plastic surgery stafi" enjoyed a very nice Christmas Party on Dec. 21. We were so glad that Dr. W. L. Thomas could go home before the (Christmas holidays and to know that he is doing well. We miss him! Surgical Private Diagnostic Clinic has moved temporarily into the new wing until quarters can be completed for a permanent set-up. —Nelle O’Brinnt Hospital Laundry The Christmas party was enjoyed immensely by everyone. ^ We welcome Johnnie Trice who is new in our department. A speedy recovery to Alice Spruell who is ill for the j)ast ten days; also Mae DanieL—Thelma Stafford Ob-Gyn W’’elcome to the newcomers on Ob- Gyn: Dr. Van Freeman, Dr. Frank O’Neill, Dr. Charles Flynn, and Dr. Edward B. Mabry (returns from the Air Force). Dr. W. L. Thomas, who has been absent from the hospital due to ill ness, paid a visit to the Ob-Gyn folks. He’s looking great and we hope it Avon’t be too long before he returns to work. Several of our folks have had a touch of that old “virus,” but every thing is just about back to normal again and no sniffles are apparent at present. One of our residents. Dr. J. B. Williams, is away on leave for three months, working in Florida. We certainly miss him, but hope he’s en joying the “Florida climate.” Mrs. Doris Terrell has returned to work after being in the hospital for a few days.—Jo Thompson
