Construction Moving

The new hospital addition which has
been under construction since Janu
ary, 1!)55 is nearin" completion. It is
ex])ected that the major contractors
will finish their work by tlune 1 and
that the last i)ieces of equipment and
furniture will be installed during the
summer. The areas of the present hos
pital to be vacated will then be re
modeled to fit the needs of those de
partments that will be moved. This
re-constI'uction will proceed as fast
as possible. Jlucli of it will be done
in stages as some areas must be com
pleted before others can move. This
renovation is a story in itself.
Many areas of the new addition are
already in use. Two new operating
rooms have been in use since early
March and it is anticipated that all 10
new rooms will be completed late in
April. The second floor classroom is
almost completed and is in use. The
third fl(K)r classroom will be remodeled
in a similar nuinner and will be com-
])leted in May. The new Special Diet
Kitchen is in use ad.jaceut to the Main
Kitchen and ])lans are being made to
remodel the ohl S.D.K. into a modern
milk fornuila room. The Surgical
P. I). has moved into its new facili
ties and should be i)ermanently in
stalled by ^lay. The renovation of
the Medical P.D.O. areas will start in
April and will be completed by -Inne.
The Central Sterile Supply room is
using its new space although altera
tions are not complete.
The nursing units will be ready in
May but their use will depend upon
the com))letion of the necessary Die
tary facilities. 'Phe three new wards
