WEDDING BELLS Carol Jones, 1958 Physical Therapy graduate and member of that depart ment until November 1, was married November 21 to George Coggin in Washington, D. C. They will live in Greensboro, N. C. NEW FACES AND OLD Bacteriology New in the Clinical Bacteriology Laboratory are Mrs. Jean Adams and William Ray Barnhill. Pediatrics Mrs. Erraadine Martin who has been in Dr. Howell’s office is leaving to go to the VA Hospital. She will be replaced by Mrs. Amby Peach. Joan Lynn, Pediatric Hematology Lab, is leaving to join her Marine husband. Z)kat Medical Records Here’s a big welcome to the new employees in our Department. Surgery We welcome to the Surgical De partment Dr. Rikko Yamaki from Japan. He is working as a fellow on thoracic in the Bell Building. Business Office Mrs. Elizabeth Trent Hendricks, chief admitting officer of the hospi tal for over seventeen years, left the Medical Center November 1 to re turn to her home in Okmulgee, Okla homa. Prior to her departure she was honored by the Business Office with a dinner party at Hartmans. The good wishes and affection of her as sociates and Medical Center friends go with her. Surgical PDC Mrs. Carol Hood is the new secre tary to Drs. Turner and Parker. Her husband, James, is in the Graduate Law School at Duke. Caroline Wise is the new secretary in the Neuro-Surgical Resident’s Of fice. Mrs. Edith Horn, former secretary to Drs. Parker and Turner, is‘work ing with her husband, Dr. Edward Ilorji, Biology. Betty Crabtree, SPDC Lab techni cian, is recuperating well in Duke Hospital from an automobile acci dent. Occupational Therapy Carol Billow Parrish left us August 15 to move to Fayetteville. Her husband, Billy, has a Methodist church there. Carol is teaching a class of mentally retarded children this year. Psychiatry Mrs. Vaida Diller Thompson has joined the Department as a Research Assistant with Dr. R. H. Doven- muehle’s Nursing Research Grant. Mrs. Sally Beal has resigned as secre tary of this group and returned to her home in San Francisco. Pathology Mr. Lee Luna, chief techniciau of the Armed Forces Institute of Path ology, Washington, D. C., spent some time with our histology section learn ing techniques. Dr. Chauncey Bly, formerly of Rochester, N. Y., has joined the de partment as Associate Professor. He will be busy teaching and pursuing a research project with animals on cancer. Dr. Joachim Sommer is partly ab sorbed by Dr. Beard’s research team while studying the histochemistry of virus-induced cancer cells. Space in the department has been rearranged to open a research suite for a project in collaboration with the U. S. Public Health Department. Dr. Jane Elchlepp heads the study and John Brandon has been added to the staff as a technical assistant. X-Ray Former members of the department were welcomed back Nov. 16-17 for the first meeting of the R. J. Reeves Radiological Society. Dr. Charles A. Martin of Texas was guest speaker. Dr. Claude Smith, who will com plete his training the latter ])art of the year, has accepted a position at Co lumbia Hospital, Columbia, S. C. Physical Therapy The department has two new secre taries, Mrs. Carolyn Roberts and Mrs. Joe Ellen Carter. Carolyn joined the staff in September. Prom Natick, Mass., she was a student nurse at Rhode Island Hospital prior to her re cent marriage. Her husband is a graduate student in Zoology at Duke. Mrs. Carter joined us early in No vember. She is from Charleston,
