New Faces and Old Physiology and Pharmacology Dr. E. V. Evarts joined the depart- nu'nt December 1 as Associate Pro fessor of Physiology. He comes from the National Institutes of Health and will head the Laboratory of Cerebral Physiology here. Private Medical Laboratory Mrs. Rosabelle Flow'ers, a technical supervisor for 7 years, has moved to High Point where her husband will be on the faculty of High Point College. Suzanne Schrack has been promoted to fill the vacancy. Congratulations, Susie! Norma Lester has transferred to the Hematology Laboratory after 0 years with us. Karen Jones joined us August 1 as technical trainee, and Jean Hunt Wilkinson, a recent graduate of Bow man Gray Technologists School joined us September 1. Jean’s husband is a fourth year Dnke medical student. Surgical PDC Mrs. Priscilla Barden joined the SPDC registration desk in October. Surgery Dr. (Juido Mattoii, instructor in Plastic Surgery, left November 12 to become chief of plastic surgery at the University of Ghent, Belgium. Mrs. Theresa Pope, new secretary in the department office, is from Fitz gerald, Georgia. Her husband is out side i)lant engineer for the General Tele])lione Co. Mary Stuart Johnson in Dr. Anlyan’s office comes from Washington, D. C., and is married to a third year law student. Mrs. Fan nie Carver is the new secretary in Dr. Anderson’s office. Her husband makes experimental apparatus for re search in the Department of Psy chology. Mrs. Laverne Ferree is in the Thoracic Surgery Office. Her hus band is chief of the Supply Division at the Durham V. A. Hospital. Medical PDC Kitty Bryant left to await the ar rival of her first child. Charlene Barnes, transferred from Pathology, took over as secretary to Mr. Cobb. (’aren Leffler has w'orked wath us as a medical secretary trainee from Lees-McKae College at Banner Elk, X. C. The bookkeeping department wel comes two new members: Gladys Bunting and Linda Cheek. MPDC has had pictures made of all the personnel for the purpose of ac- (piainting all the hospital staff -with our staff. Medical Illustration did the ])hotography. Hospital Business Office Mrs. Amelia Daniel has joined the program department and replaces Mrs. Gloria Bass Tomlinson. Mrs. Nancy Frost is the new addres- sogra|)h op(‘rator and replaces Mrs. .leanni'tte Dickey, who is now (^arrying out bookkeeping duties. Mrs. Hetty Dollar lias biMMi assigiu'd to charge control. Mrs. Sally Johnson is a new em ployee in the billing department. Mrs. Dorcas Jones is returning to the lUisiness Office ])rograms depart ment from OPD, and Mrs. Hilda Parker is transferred to OPD pro grams division. Mrs. p]liza Redford of the insur ance department was a member of the cast of “Ruritan Rascals” benefit show given at Oak Grove School No vember 17-18. Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy Miss Bernice Belue assumed the position of Director of the Occupa tional Therapy Department in Sep tember. She is a graduate of the Medical College of Virginia and hails originally from Alabama. On the Go Mrs. Durena Wetmore, Surgical PD(', has been vacationing with her son and daughter in Bethesda, Mary land, and W^ashington, D. C. Nelle O’Briant, Surgical PDC, at tended the Southeast District Con ference of the National Secretaries Association in Atlanta.
