Nelson to the newly created post of Public Information Officer for the Duke I\Ie(lical Center is the first stej) in a ]()n"-ranre program designed to pro vide more comprehensive information services for the entire TTniversity. ^Ir. Nelson’s promotion from post of assistant director of the Bureau of Public Information to his present as signment means that he will devote his full time to the handling of ^ledi- cal Center information for nuiss com munication media: news and feature stories, radio and television material. Although I’espojisible for JMedical Center news for the past five years, he has also had to divide his time M’ith other responsibilities. Mr. Nelson, a 1948 graduate of Duke (A.M., 1949), joined the Bu reau of Public Information twelve years ago. lie was made assistant di rector in 11)52, and was assigned in 1956 to handle medical writing. Mrs. Anne Kinnner, Psychiatry, is a grandmother for the first time: a granddaughter, Teresa Ann Noruuui, born to A/I Fred Norman and Judith Norman, Shaw Field, South Carolina. Dr. and Mrs. Herbert A. Saltznian, Medicine, a baby girl, Patricia, De cember 14. Patricia lias a sister, Ann Louise. Joaini and Bob Federchuck, Physi cal Therapy, a daughter, Janice El len, December 19. Bob is working part-time in the dei)artment while he contiinies his graduate study in i)hys- iology at Duke University. WEDDING BELLS On December 17 Kay Toler, secre tary in Physical Therapy, became the bride of Duke medical student, Ceorge F. Armstrong, Jr. Kay is back at work after a Florida honeymoon. Nancy Warner, Physical Thera])y, will be married to Dr. John Lazslo, Associate in Medicine, on March 4. Jennings Jennings Named Administrative Assistant Ralph E. Jennings has joined the staff' of Duke Hospital as an admin istrative assistant. Formerly, j\lr. Jennings was assistant administrator at ^Memorial Hospital in Johnson City, Tennes.see, for some two years. He will be concerned at Duke with administration of professional and diagnostic s(>rvice de])artnu!nt>s such as ph\-sical therapy, occupational ther- a])y, laboratories, and electrocardiog raphy. A native of Kingsi)ort, Tennessee, Ml-. Jennings received both the B.A. and 15.S. degrees from East Tennes see State ('ollege in Johnson ('ity. He is a 1956 graduate of Duke Hospital’s two-year program in hospital admin istration. Before coming to Duke, he was ])resident of the East Tennessee Hos- ])ital (’onncil. His other jjrofessional alfiliations include those of nominee of the American (’ollege of Hospital Administrators and member of the American Hospital Association.
