Mrs. Wetmore Retires From that morning in November 1980 when Mrs. Durema Wetmore ‘ ‘ walked a plank ’ ’ over the unfinished sidewalk to begin work at Duke Hos pital until the day this fall when she retired from her PDC desk, she brought warmtli and enthusiasm to her duties. Her service to the lios- pital included 12 years at the informa tion desk and 20 years as a “differen tiator” for PDC. Tn the latter post her primary duty was to interview and direct patients who came to the I)rivate diagnostic clinics for the first time. Before her retirement Mrs. Wet more was honor guest at a party given by the staffs of the Medical and Surgical PDC’s. A slip of tlie tongue by Master of Ceremonies K. N. Cren shaw set off some inter-dei)artmental spoofing. Mr. Crenshaw introduced Mr. H. 1). Maynard as Assistant Business Manager of Medical PDC. Mr. George Kantner prom])tly set Personnel Department wheels turn ing to effect Mr. Maynard’s transfer from Surgical to Medical PDC—and at a reduction in salary!
