Page 8 Duke University Medical Center, InterCom WEDDING BELLS Linda L. Hawkins and David N. liaws were married February 15 in Koxboro. Linda is employed in the bookkeeping department of the hospi tal business office. Dr. Charles Eackley, of the depart ment of medicine, and Betsy Wood- hall, of the nursing staff, were mar ried in Durham, February 1. Wedding bells will ring on April 11 for Christine von Arnim, physical therapist, and Dr. Howard K. Thomp son, department of medicine. Congratulations are being extended to Mr. and Mrs. Gazie K. Ragep who were married March 10. Mrs. Gazie is the former Miss Doris Rogers, sec retary to Dr. Ben Feather. Sandra Grant, Dr. Alyea’s secre tary, is engaged. NEW FACES AND OLD Medicine Barbara Bain, a laboratory clinical nursing supervisor, has transferred from the nursing service to Dr. Mc Intosh’s lab. New technicians are Wayne Sid- man Barber in Dr. Estes’ lab, Lewis Edward Dixon in Dr. Saltzman’s lab, Ann Fowler in Dr. Heyman’s lab, and B(mita Louise Pitzer in Dr. Elder’s lab. Sarah Louise Parrish is now a lab oratory assistant in Dr. McIntosh’s lab. Martha Paige Young is working as a secretary in MOPC for Mr. Dean. Mrs. LaKue Sawyer has recently joined the MPDC staff. Outpatient Department Mrs. Melba Houser formerly em ployed in MPDC insurance office is now secretary to Mr. James Mau. She replaced Mrs. Joyce Trout. Mrs. Trout is now secretary to Mr. Stanley Elwell. She replaced Mrs. Eloise Helms who was given a charm brace let from the staff as a farewell gift. Other new employees in this de partment are Miss Nancy Marshburn who replaced Miss Carol Bowman; Mrs. Margie Pedrick who replaced Miss Dot Ogburn; Mrs. Maudie Thompson and Mrs. Betty Olson. Physical Therapy We are pleased to welcome three physical therapists to our staff. Katherine LeGuin returned to Duke on February 1 after a year at Van derbilt University Hospital. Also coming to us from Vanderbilt is Mrs. Gisela Hendley who originally hails from Germany. Mrs. Ann McCallum, a University of Kansas graduate re- plac(‘d Conny Peake who had been on the staff" for ten years. Psychiatry Dr. Lindsay A. Graham, former resident in psychiatry, is now at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden. He is the recipient of a NIMH Special Fellowship to study there. We are enjoying the services of several new secretaries and techni cians. They are: Mrs. Mattie Jones, Miss Becky Lemons, Mrs. Linda Hall, Mrs. Edna Bailey, iliss Ann Jackson, Mrs. Nancy Grunert, and Miss Sandra SifHing. ^ Surgery Dr. John Freese has finished his residency and is headed for Texas and private practice. New secretaries are Betty O’Neal who replaced Ann Weems in the urol ogy clinic, Wendy Pittman who is sec retary to Drs. Bassett and McCollum in orthopedics, and Kathie Leathers who is now working in the surgical pool. Personnel Department Mr. Neil S. Bucklew has recently joined the Personnel Department as Assistant Director. Mr. Bucklew was graduated from the University of Mis souri and has taken a year of addi tional work at Duke. His primary responsibility will be with position classification and salary control. The Bucklews live at 9 Meadow- brook Drive. Mrs. Bucklew, also- a Missouri graduate, is an instructor in Physical Education at Carr Junior High School. Congratulations to Dr. Hilda Pope Willett and Dr. John R. Overman who have been promoted to full ])ro- fessorships in Microbiology.
