Jones, Mrs. Sandra Mikesell, Miss Margaret Law rence, and Mrs. Johanna La Via. Surgical FDC New technicians are Mrs. Linda Poole, Mrs. Lela Lawson, and Mrs. Mary P. Smith. Mrs. Alice Louise Hopson, an aide, has transferred to us after six years’ service on Osier ward. Mrs. Julia Pendergrass is employed in the cashier’s office and Mrs. Jann Horton is also new in the cashier’s office. Mrs. Jeanette Stewart Guthrie, is our new programs officer. She is the daughter of Mr. A. P. Stewart in the maintenance department. We were sorry to see Miss Ann Thompson leave. She will assume secretarial duties with Dr. Burnett, School of Medicine, N. C. Memorial Hospital, Chapel Hill. ON THP] GO Hospital Business Office Marilynn, hospital bookkeeping, and Clark Fultz, Duke forestry stu dent, will be in Bonanza, Idaho, this summer. Clark has a government post in fire control aid and Marilynn will work part-time as a government weather observer. Pediatrics Dr. Jack Boineau, fellow in pediat ric cardiology visited cardiology lab oratories in Amsterdam in the Nether lands and in Zurich, Switzerland. PLAUDITS We are proud of Mrs. Claude Gos- wick of the nursing service, who was named one of Durham’s Mothers of the Year. Dr. Morton Bogdonoff was recently elected president of the American Federation for Clinical Eesearch. Dr. Jay Sanford, formerly at Duke and now at Southwestern, is president elect. Dr. Herbert Sieker was recently elected to membership in the Asso ciation of American Physicians, an honorary organization of academic internal medicine. Only 25 doctors a year are elected and membership is based on “excellence and demon strated leadership in teaching and research” in the field of internal medicine. On April 20 at special ceremonies Dr. Eugene Stead received the Med ical Alumnus of the Year Award at Emory University. On May 23, a special program to honor Dr. W. C. Davison was held in the hospital amphitheatre. Open to the public, the program included a film of highlights of “The Common wealth of Children,” the symposium held in Dr. Davison’s honor in 1961, and presentation of a bound collec tion of letters from eminent persons saluting Dr. Davison’s achievements as dean.
