Tunstall has joined the evening staif of the Hospital Business Office insurance department. She replaces Mrs. Barbara Davies, who has moved from Durham. Nursing Service Miss Norma Harris has returned from an educational leave of absence and is working with the Renal Trans plant Team. Mrs. Verna Sticht has recently re turned from two years in Iran and is working with Dr. W. W. Spradlin in the Day Unit (see article, page 3). Occupational Therapy Dorie Milner has been selected to serve part-time as an occupational therapist in the Day Unit, opened in February by the Department of Psy chiatry (see article, page 3). Pediatrics We w'ould like to welcome Mrs. Jackie Greenway as a new secretary in Pediatrics. Jackie, who formerly worked in the X-ray Department, is replacing Susan Strickland who left the Department of Pediatrics in Jan uary. The Department would also like to welcome a new lab technician in the Pediatric Lab, Mrs. Linda Billings. Linda transferred from the Pediatric Duke University Medical Center Durham, North Carolina 1 Outpatient Department where she was appointment secretary. Mrs. Lee Shepperson replaced Linda as ap pointment secretary. Department of Psychiatry Miss Lynda Lowery has joined the staff of the Day Unit as a psychology assistant. New secretarial staff includes: Miss Karen Carlson, Inpatient Service; Mrs. Jean Pace, EEG Lab; Miss Jill Galloway, Sensitivity Research; and Miss Della Bouchard, Child Guidance (,'linic. New technicians are: Mrs. Mary Jane Huneycutt, Dr. Feather’s lab, and Mrs. Jeanne Burnett, Psycho- physiological Lab. SPDC Mrs. Jane O’Brien is now with the Compensation and Liability Office. Department of Surgery Those who have recently left and those who will soon be leaving the Department of Surgery are: Margot Crossland (Rehabilitation Office), Katherine Kiser (Department of Sur gery office), Jacquelin Lancaster (Neurosurgery), and Linda Scroggie (Rehabilitation Office). New employees in the department include: Maureen Baba (Ophthal mology), Ann Lesane (secretary in the Duke Thromboembolic Unit), and Mary Mooney (Department of Sur gery office). Rose Hagen is transferring from the Surgical Resident’s Office to Dr. Donald Silver’s office. ON THE GO Dietetics Miss Dorothy Tate, Director of Di etetics, was guest speaker at the monthly meeting of the Raleigh Di etetic Association on March 15. She also participated in the Food Service Supervisors Institute held in Raleigh on March 30-April 1. : P, Occupational Therapy Dorie Milner will be going to New Orleans, La. on May 16 to attend a training institute on “Group Pro cesses for Psychiatric Occupational Therai>ists. ’ ’ Dorie expects the train ing institute to be very helpful in her new work in the Duke Day Unit (see article, page 3). Mary Lennon has recently returned from Evanston, Illinois, where she took a week’s course on “Upper Ex tremity Prosthetics” at Northwestern LTniversity. Following the Evanston trip, Mary vacationed in Wisconsin. Physical Therapy Sue Espenshade and Emy Villanu eva attended the APTA-VRA work shop for physical therapy teachers which was held in Lincoln, Nebraska March 28-April 2. Helen Kaiser was a member of the joint accrediting AMA-APTA team which visited the School of Physical Therapy at Boston University, Febru ary 9-12. Department of Surgery Dr. Gardner reports from Florida that he is enjoying fishing and re laxing. We all miss him and look forward to his return! Mrs. Jackie Guteknnst, research secretary in the Division of Urology, and Miss Ginny .Iordan, secretary to Dr. James F. Glenn, have recently returned from a meeting held at Roswell Park Memorial Institute, Buffalo, N. Y. The meeting was at tended bj’ secretaries who will be in volved in the Surgical Adjuvant Bladder Project. Duke is one of eleven medical centers particij)ating in this project. PLAUDITS Physical Therapy Miss Eleanor Flanagan has been reappointed by Governor Dan K. Moore to the North Carolina State Examining Committee of Physical Therapists. She will serve a three year term.
