Laws is a new technician trainee on Rankin Ward, Mrs. Phyllis Carpenter has joined the Inpatient Psychiatric Ser vice as secretary-receptionist for Dr. Hine, and Mrs. Marguerite Stubblefield has returned as receptionist in the Private Psychiatry Clinic. Linda Daniel, who formerly held this position as recep tionist, is now secretary to Dr. John M. Rhoads and Dr. John B. Reckless. Mrs. Kate Anderson, formerly in the Department of Psychiatry, is now in the Department of Biochemistry as secretary to Dr. Robert Hill and Dr. Norman Kirshner. Mrs. Betty Sellers is a new secretary for Dr. Donald Silver and Dr. Delford Stickel. Dorothy Ann Williams from Hamilton, Canada, is a new tech nician in the Division of Experimental Surgery. Nursing Service announces the names of the following new staif additions: Anna Lois Blair, R.N. in Emergency Room; Marcia K. Carpenter, technician in Operating Room; Judith Cassidy, ward clerk on Hanes; Shirley T. Harris, L.P.N. on Cushing; Horace H. Johnson, orderly; Kathy McKellar, Ward clerk on Minot; Mary T. Susana Berry of Texas has joined the staff of Occupational Therapy. She was formerly a therapist at the North Carolina Cerebral Palsy Hospital. Mary Latham has transferred from Dr. Stempfel’s Lab to the Urology Research Lab, and Mamie Beamon has transferred from the Housekeeping Department to the Department of Pediatrics. Clinton Harris is a new orderly in the Department of Physical Therapy and Doris Carden is a new laboratory technician in the Division of Neurology. Canent, Jr., Pediatrics, announce the birth of a daughter on October 20. • GOOD-BYE . . . Mrs. Margaret Parker, Dr. Keitli Grimson’s secretary, resigned as of January 1. Mrs. Sarah Foss has resigned from the Depart ment of Psychiatry to accept a position as a social worker with the Durham County Welfare Department. Mrs. Bobbie P. Patterson, R.N. in Urology Clinic, has moved to Burlington, N. C., where her husband will be connected with Memorial Hospital there. He was formerly in Hospital Administration training here. Quincey Davis, orderly in Physical Therapy, has resigned to join the Air Force. Jo Abernathy, staff Physical Therapist, re signed as of December 31 to join the staff at Stanford University, Palo Alto, California. Betty O’Neal, bacteriologist in the Urology Clinic, has left to attend Georgia Southern College and Mrs. Tina Newmark, R.N. in the Urology Research Lab, has moved to Wash ington, D. C., where her husband will begin his internship train ing. Mrs. Mary Nell Crock has resigned as secretary to Dr. Eugene Renkin to move with her husband to New Orleans where he will begin his internship. • NOTE FROM CUPID . . . Patricia Ellen Hawley, daughter of Mrs. Winfred Palmar Hawley (Martha of SPDC) and Mr. Hawley, was jnarried to Carl Joseph Wilson on Saturday, December 4, in Atlanta, Ga. Sophie Vreman, research technician in Physiology, recently visited her parents in Denmark. Bernie Blaney, whose wife Etta Lou is a secretary in Nursing Education, has been named “Pepsi Prep Coach of the Year” in North Carolina. Coach Blaney, who was a halfback on the Duke team several years ago, is the head football coach at Durham High School and his team finished its 1965 season with 12 wins, no losses and no ties. • WE EXTEND OUR SYMPATHY . . .
