KEEPING IN TOUCH (Continued from page 9) is working as a research technician in the Department of Psychiatry and in the same department Mrs. Barbara Fasser has joined the staff as Dr. C. E. Llewellyn’s secretary. Mrs. Jane White is a new secretary in the Student Mental Health Clinic on the East Campus. Leon Stephens is a new orderly in Physical Therapy and Judith Parker of Cedar Grove is a new technical assistant in the Hematology Division. Medical Records has two new filing clerks; Mrs. Mary Beth Wilson Carroll and Fatma T. Batca. The Department of Dietetics welcomes two new employees: Mrs. Dossie Pool, who is doing relief schedule on tray unit, and Mrs. Sula Whitted in the Dietary Department. The department also welcomes back Mrs. Van Page who has returned to work after a leave of absence and Mrs. Nellie Newman who has been out of work due to illness. Juanita Ledford began working in Medical PDC the last of March. Mrs. Marion Fine is a new secre tary in Pathology, and Bob Poston is new research technician in the Immunopathology Laboratory. • NEW BABIES... Allen and Margaret Whitehead announce the birth of a baby girl on March 12. Margaret is a former technician in Microbiology. Dr. and Mrs. R. 0. Burns, Microbiology, also announce the birth of a daughter on March 16. • SORRY YOU'RE LEAVING . . . Mary A. Johnson has resigned from the Medical OPC to be married and Mrs. Sandra K. Stouffer, secretary to Dr. James P. Gills, Jr., resigned in March. Mrs. Prosen, supervisor, has left the Department of Dietetics; also Mrs. Bernice Poole has left the same department to work in Medical PDC. Mrs. Linda Whitley, secre tary to Miss Helen Kaiser in Physical Therapy, has resigned to work as a secretary in her husband’s business and Mrs. Linda Dixon, secretary in Physical Therapy, has also resigned her position. Alice Appen, Patient Service Representative, left the last of March and is traveling in Europe this spring with her husband. • NOTES OF INTEREST . . . Judy Griffin, physical therapist, and Emy Villanueva, Instructor in Physical Therapy, spent a week recently touring Florida. . . . Congratulations to Mrs. Gussie Woods Ray and Mr. Ray who cele brated their first anniversary in April. Gussie works on the tray unit in the Department of Dietetics. . . . Mary Beth Wilson was married to Andrew Morris Carroll, and Beth Smith, OPD registra tion, was married to A. Louis Rickman, Jr., on April 24. [Ed. Note: Congratulations are also due Mrs. John C. (Ruth) Dailey, Jr., PDC interviewer and writer of “Keeping In Touch,” who has been ap pointed a member of the Durham County Alcoholic Beverage Con trol Board. She is the first women to ever hold that position on the county ABC board and will serve until May 1, 1967.] • CONDOLENCES . . . We extend our sympathy to Dr. Lenox D. Baker, Chief of the Division of Orthopaedic Surgery, upon the death of his wife. k f The new business manager of the Outpatient Department, Mr. Byron Russell, is shown discussing one of the department’s forms with Miss Betty Lewis. New OPD Business Manager Appointed Mr. Byron M. Russell has joined the Outpatient Department staff. He will be filling the newly created position of business manager. — Mr. Russell will handle all the business functions of the Out patient Department clinics. He will be working with accounting, program sponsorship, billings, collections, statistics, handling of funds, and patient financial classification. Previously, these duties were the responsibility of the director. “The new position was created as a part of the Outpatient Clinic reorganization, so that the clinics may be more responsive to in creasing demands of outpatient services, education and research activities,” said Mr. Jon Jaeger, Director of Outpatient Extension Services. Before coming to Duke, Mr. Russell was with the Erwin ilills Division of Burlington Industries as an assistant supervisor in the invoice control section. The Russells are natives of Burlington. Mrs. Russell is a public health nurse in the Durham County Health Department.
