A Chapel for the Medical Center
All Have Opportunity to Help Build Religious Center
At this same time last year,
Intercom published a Christmas
letter that was sent out by the
Medical Center Chapel Commit
tee suggesting that those persons
who usually give support to a
favored organization at Christ
mastime might give some thought
to a donation to the Hospital
Chapel Fund.
Contributions amounting to
about half of the total cost of
the religious center have been
received to date, and it is now
hoped that construction of the
new facility can begin during
the next year.
Quietness, privacy and com
passion are three everyday needs
of the patient, his family and
his friends. And yet, here at
Duke, we have little space to
allot to “privacy” and there is
much activity that disturbs
quietness. Compassion is pro
vided at various levels, but there
