8 Medical Center Renovation - - i.v vvvvv. w «. i. V U * Wards WARDS REFURBISHED—Workmen are continuing renovation of Strudwick ward. Cabell, which has just reopenned, along with Drake, Holmes, Meyer and Welch, was also upgraded under the current hospital renovation program. IN FIRST STAGES—The area for the proposea oranch bank to be lo.catkl near the lobby where the old snack bar used to be is presently undergoing renovation. When completed, the bank will provide regular banking seryices for hospital personnel. Hammers are clanging and saws are buzzing around the medical center as renovation of hospital areas continues. Facilities included range from a new branch bank near the hospital lobby to several of the patient wards. Ten of the projects were grouped into one program called Renovation I. All were completed by one architect and contractor and the total price tag is approximately $1 million. Included in Renovation I were clinics, wards and labs in addition to the new bank and the chapel. The renovations were begun earlier this year. Drake, Cabell, Holmes, Meyer and Welch wards made up a large part of this project. Strudwick ward, where electri cians, painters and others are still at work, was redone under a separate $65,- 000 contract. Work on the wards included refur bishing and upgrading most of the pre sent facilities. Patient bathrooms were redone and all areas were painted. In addition, wall-mounted TV sets were in stalled, new communications systems set up and new oxygen and vacuum connec tions were provided in all areas. The branch bank, located where the old snack bar by the lobby used to be, is in the first stages of renovation.
