The School of Nursing's Hanes House
underwent nearly $190,000 in renova
tions and remodeling during the summer
and part of the fall. Some furnishings
are still being installed.
The changes concentrated living quar
ters and other student facilities, including
the health service, in the central wing of
the building. A number of faculty
offices, a 14-seat seminar room and a 40-
seat classroom were constructed from
reclaimed space.
The lobby, formerly just a small room,
was enlarged and redecorated into a
lounge-type area for students and guests.
Plans for the Hanes House project were
begun in late 1967.
The hospital kitchen, which serves 650
patients and nearly 700 staff and em
ployes each day, was the object of
$40,000 worth of renovation and new
equipment. The patient food service
and the baking area along with some of
the storage and cooking facilities were
irnproved.
