Medical Photographers Hold Conference at Duke Almost everyone today takes pictures. Whether he steadies a Brownie and flips one lever or uses special film, ex pensive lenses, light meters and a sophis ticated camera with multiple adjustments, the picture he takes is his own product But of the millions of camera bugs, Duke (continued from page one) A special air conditioning system a- long with carefully planned fume ex haust units have been installed. A mo tor generating facility can provide emer gency power if necessary. The center was funded through con tributions from the Nanaline H. Duke Foundation, the Duke Endowment and Burlington Industries, along with a $2.9 million grant from the National Institutes of Health and money from the Duke Medical Center building fund. Following dedication ceremonies, stu dents and members of the staff will djrect tours of the new facility. one of the most select groups among the professionals is that made up of the med ical and biological photographers. They see and photograph a world foreign to most- of society through their lenses. In late November and early December, the medical center played host to a group of these professionals-members of the Southeastern Chapter of the Biological Photographers Association-from medical centers, hospitals and universities in seven southeastern states. Wayne C. 'Williams, coordinator of medical photography here, is chairman of the regional chapter, and Sam Agnello, director of audiovisual education, served as convener for the meeting. The Biological Photographers Assoc iation is an international organization of about 1,000 members. The approxi mately 60 who met at Duke exchanged ideas and information ranging from con cepts of photography to technical proce dures. The photographers, mostly from hos pitals and medical centers, came from Virginia, North and South Carolina, Geor gia, Florida, Alabama and Tennessee. Glenn Home” Gets Award When Dr. James Glenn returned from a medical mission to South Vietnam Dec. 4, he had an award waiting for him in Buffalo, N. Y. Dr. Glenn, chief of urologic surgery at Duke, has been named "Urologist of the Year" by the Buffalo Urological ! Society and received a plaque in cere monies there Dec. 5. The Buffalo society annually recog nizes "an outstanding physician who has made major contributions to the field of urology." Dr. Glenn earned his bach elor's degree at nearby University of Rochester and received his M.D. at Duke in 1952. He has been professor of urology and chief of the service here since 1963. The trip initially was scheduled earlier in the year, but had to be postponed be cause of intensive warfare in and around Saigon. The United States is attempting to aid medical education in South Vietnam, and a proposed program would bring selected medical graduates and faculty members to medical centers in this country to observe methods of clinical practice, re search, teaching and administration. Dr. Glenn's role is to assess the feasi bility of an overall program and report his findings to the A.M.A. and the State Department.
